Yep, that is what I was looking to find. I figured if no party affiliation was mentioned he has to be a Democrat.
It was in the title silly:

Rep. stands for Republican........
That's the obvious implication and what everyone sees when they read the title of the article but not the article itself.........it's a clever use of language.
