e day after a Democrat Illinois lawmaker cruised to victory in his party’s primary Tuesday, he gave up his seat in the wake of a child pornography raid.
State Rep. Keith Farnham stepped down from representing Elgin, a city about 35 miles northwest of Chicago, days after Immigration and Customs Enforcement agents raided his home and his state office in Springfield.
Items that were seized included the laptop computer Farnham used on the House floor, The Associated Press reported.
The search warrant sought material that “in any format and medium concerning minors visually depicted while engaged in sexually explicit conduct,” AP reported.
No charges have been filed.
Farnham, 66, has been in office since 2009. In those five years, he has co-sponsored two laws cracking down child pornography: one targeting producers of child porn; the other stiffening penalties for its possession.

How many people even know that one of John Kerry's Swiftboat crewmen that he dragged all over the country during the 2004 election was convicted and sentenced to prison for child-porn-I only found out because it was mentioned here!
One thing for sure. When the FEDS go after a DEM, it means he's one of the good guys. An American who doesn't want to sell out to the Socialist coup of our government. I'm surprised they haven't just killed him.
As to why ICE is being used to go after him, I don't have an answer yet. My guess is they were trying to get him on other charges, but those fell through when they couldn't manufacture enough proof.
Elgin has a huge illegal population, I wonder if they thought he was making the porn.
