(CNSNews.com) - "Never in my lifetime have I seen a law that is helping so many people be so vilified," Sen. Barbara Boxer (D-Calif.) told a conference call on Friday.
She talked about the millions of people in her state who are benefiting from the law that Republicans have tried to repeal 54 times.
"This is a huge success, this law. I'm saying that. We had a terrible rollout, it slowed us up, but it's all falling into place now and the Republican answer is very, very simple -- let's repeal it and take away all these benefits from people. And that's just gonna wind up to be very bad for them at the end of the day."
Joining Boxer on the conference call, Sen. Chris Murphy (D-Conn.) noted that the Republicans' "original mantra" was "repeal and replace."
"Well, they voted to repeal it 54 times. They've never voted to replace it with the exception of one slap-dash plan offered by three Republican senators a few weeks ago. In the four years since the bill was signed, there has been absolutely no effort to articulate what they would do differently.
"And so the Republican's plan is simply to take away all of these benefits that have now transformed the lives of millions of Americans," Murphy said.
Boxer and Murphy are part of a liberal campaign, organized by the Center for American Progress, to spread the word that the Affordable Care Act is finally working after a rocky start.
"We have launched the Affordable Care Act Works campaign," Murphy said. "We are down on the floor of ...the Senate every week, holding press events nearly every week using social media to tell the true story about how this bill, four years after signature, is changing people's lives," Murphy said.
"Now that the Affordable Care Act is working, now that we've gotten beyond those early months of technological glitches, we have a really good story to tell, and we haven't even begun to talk about how much money this is saving taxpayers," Murphy said.
"So, I do believe that this is an issue that Democrats and proponents of the law can run on, but if and only if we continue to go out and tell the story of the mounting successes in the law."
Boxer said that "truth is the Democrats' best ally."
"And we've told you the truth today. We've given you the numbers, we can back it up, and we're beginning to hear people really happily get out there and tell their stories," she added.
"And, you know, this is -- I think time is on our side. The election isn't tomorrow. And all we have to do is tell the truth about this law. I am so excited about it, and the Republicans' answer is to take away all these benefits, all of these benefits from the people. And at the end of the day, the people are smart."
Murphy said the Obamacare enrollment numbers have been "robust" -- even though Republicans have tried to "undermine" the law.
"So I think you have to -- I think you have to talk about the success of enrollment in the context of a massive effort to try to stop people from enrolling, and -- and ultimately people will figure out the benefit that's available to them. In the long run, these propaganda campaigns that are being waged won't work, and the numbers are going to continue to grow, even in states that are working against the law rather than supporting the law."
Murphy mentioned Texas as a state that is working against the law.
"Imagine if -- if everyone was on the same page," Boxer said. "It would be really great."
Idiots seldom do understand. And she does not even know what truth is.
In today's society no one agrees on truth completely. Not that God's Word is incomplete, rather it is the interpretation that varies. And all government actions are seen with differing eyes, and education is brain washing ala Socialism. God help America.
Her only accomplishment as a senatorette has always been being the acknowledged dumbest member of the club.
It must be a communicable disease, they’re neighbors in CA and best friends in DC.
God bless and keep Cardinal Raymond Burke.
He’s very special. A giant among the Cardinals, IMHO.
They can lie ‘til the cows come home on Obamacare (and they will), but there is this little thing called “reality on the ground” that operates independently of lies and spin. Eventually, the reality on the ground catches up to the hype. The Dems will be like the band on the Titanic ... they’ll go down with the Obamacare ship, still lying about how great it is ... iceberg? What iceberg .... any report of icebergs are just lies (per Dingy Harry).
Well kind of like Clinton, it depends upon what the meaning of truth is.
For the Boxster, truth is that a million California rich working people lost their health care, millions more have had premiums go up drastically with deductibles through the roof, BUT that’s okay because look at how many illegals have been put onto medical and Ocare. That is all that counts getting some more folks on the dole.
That is her truth
HUGE!?!?!? Sounds like what a boiler room stock promoter would be hyping a mining stock!
Especially the ones to the Gulags.
Agree. But it’s important to realize the tactics (lying + guilt infliction + shoot the messenger) being used here and to effectively counter them in a substantive manner.
Calling her a delusional idiot sock puppet may be true, but it isn’t going to cut it with winning over the low information voter. We need to beware complacency on this: the Dems are going to go all out between now and November (and beyond) and we need to fight them tooth and nail, point by point by point.
Hitler ran trains to the Russian prison camps!
Who knew?
Never in my life have I seen Democrats so energized by such bad law. Stay the hell out of my life you meddling perverts. Obamacare sucks!
Ain’t it great to live in a socialist utopia world of fantasy. Lie, lie, and repeat the lie until the low-info voters face the truth, then lie some more. Re-assure them the government knows what’s best for them and keep them voting democratic at all costs.
If Obamacare is so great, then why does Obama have to fix it almost daily by new executive orders and exclusions. Why did he lie about keeping your old doctor and so on. Why does it have to be changed at all to work.
Wait until the low-infos need a doctor and personalized medical assistance. Then send them to one of those $67/month Cuban trained witch doctors and tell them to express themselves in Spanish or Creole. And tell the useful idiots how grateful they should be to the nanny government for the few crumbs of medical care they will receive at no cost. Tell them any issues are only temporary, that it will only get better.
Obamacare must be repealed because it was DOA. When you’re DOA that’s really a bad way to start. It’s rotting away and somebody needs to dispose of the corpse soon, before the November elections.
Aren’t the latest polls taken in the real world still in favor of repealing Obamacare?
are they beginning to admit the true evil goals of obamacare now? because that’s the only way they can say it’s a success.
If Boxer, et. al., really believe this, then let them convince the at-risk Senators and House reps to run on the virtues of Obamacare. Until they do, I think we all know how successful it really is.
I wish I had the power to demand that every single Democrat in power in the USA MUST take a 51-50 test.
I don’t think that 30% of them can pass such a test.
The at-risk Dems are running away from 0care like scared rabbits and will continue to, of course Babs and Nan don’t talk about that.
For decades, and even today, this confidence about the difference between the two regimesquality versus quantityhas set the ground rules for the politics of memory. Even historians of the Holocaust generally take for granted that Stalin killed more people than Hitler, thus placing themselves under greater pressure to stress the special character of the Holocaust, since this is what made the Nazi regime worse than the Stalinist one.
