The White House has been tight-lipped about the cost of First Lady Michelle Obama's trip to China, but based on the choice for lodging, it could be considerable. Mrs. Obama and her entourage, which numbers seventy according to the Washington Times (including her two daughters and her mother), booked the Westin Chaoyang Hotel close to the U.S. embassy in Beijing for their first stop. According to USA Today, the presidential suite at the hotel is listed as $8,400 per night.
But when Vice President Joe Biden visited China in December 2013, he and his team stayed at the St. Regis Hotel after the contracting officer responsible for booking rooms determined that the Westin Chaoyang hotel "price was prohibitive when compared with St. Regis." This is according to the justification and approval documents just released on a government contracting website:
The following other hotels were reviewed but were not adequate because of the following:
Grand Hyatt Beijing—cannot meet security requirements for travel into and out of the building. Westin Chaoyang—price was prohibitive when compared with St. Regis—otherwise met requirements.

Here is the deal. Michelle may not have spent a dime at the hotel.
That is just not how business is done with politicians. Basically, you give them something for “free” and you get something even more valuable in return.
Let’s say that China wants Canadian Oil and wants Keystone Pipeline stopped. (Stopping Keystone means Canadian oil goes to China and not the USA). Michelle and friends and family get whatever they want including free trips and vacations and including inside info on various investments and even rigged investments or access to IPO’s that are sure to go up and sex toys regardless if they are inanimate or human or gifts of priceless antique Chinese vases.
Then guess what ? Keystone is stopped or fill in the blank with the presidential action of your choice is stopped or initiated.
I’m tired of these people spending our money and no one
is saying anything about it. They are ripping everyone off.

I wouldn’t really care if someone stood up at the beginning of four years and said the whole travel budget for the President and family was “X”, to include the helpers, the secret service, etc. So for four years....you have a budget and you kinda have to stay within that. This whole footprint ensemble crew is a joke now. You’ve got secret service standing on the ground...mostly waiting for any problems to occur but otherwise, they simply stand back at the base and pretend to work.
When you get around to paying $8000 a night for some hotel room....there’s something wrong. I basically paid my entire income tax bill for 2012...for her one night at the hotel.

very dubious like a serious transfer of technology.

then the odds are something is afoul. Especially when they
