Eighteen year-old Jordan Wiser is training to be a firefighter. Hes a certified emergency vehicle operator who works as a first responder when hes not attending high school. And, after just spending 13 days in jail, hes now facing felony charges for weapons possession.
The weapon? A pocketknife. It was in his EMT vest, and he uses it to cut through seatbelts when hes practicing saving lives.

It seems like whenever this happens, the “offender” is not some gangbanger or someone with a skeevy violent past.
This young man has expressed a desire to serve in public life, I read that in another thread about him, and he’s concerned that a felony rap will halt that career. Others caught in this have been Eagle Scouts.
Here’s where I go out on a limb- what if the left is using its “get out the vote” and fundraising databases (Google’s Civitas comes to mind) to do a little predictive modeling and see which kids might someday run for office. They then help the careers of lefties and squash the career of conservatives, by using the “bullying” laws and “zero tolerance” policies. You don’t even need a predictive computer model, a lefty principal and school board can do it on their own, but the Big Data tools are there.
Odd that the kids taken down in this way are never president of a GSA or work for a lefty advocacy group.
I had a pure silver bodied Cross pen with my initials on it confiscated by airport security. I asked the biitch what she was gonna with it since she probably couldn’t read or write. Spent two and and half hours being interrogated where I gave the bulls all kinds of crap about how ignorant, stupid and wrong they were. Asked a supervisor to arrest one of the bulls because he had a pen in his pocket.
A charge is a long way from conviction. That said, and I never thought I would say this, I am beginning to detest cops.
Good theory you have there — preemptive data mining on future ‘troublemakers.”
Did you get your pen back? Cross makes very nice pens.
Zero tolerance is often, OFTEN, promoted right here in one thread or another. Depending on who is saying it for what reason, it is someone’s Purina Dumbass Chow.
It is the sedentary imbecile’s way to feel tough and engaged.
I think the whole point is to turn us into criminals. Once we’re all convicted criminals, we’re slaves of the state.
Have you not sent your whitewashed jackass to the knacker’s yet?
I think you are correct. For all the bleating about freedom in America, we are rapidly losing the practical exercise of them, and after the SCOTUS upheld ACA we are in classic political science terms a totalitarian state.
Post #18 beat us to the punch. It’s a quote from Ayn Rand (who I find impossible to read - my loss) and it says exactly what we think.
This nation has seen its day .. now it must witness it own demise at the hands of idiots.
It does. She understood the abusive state and the malice of mediocrities very well. I bought my kid a copy of Anthem not long ago.
I had a Cross pen confiscated right after 9/11, too. Still mad. Mine was at a concert, but it was a 20 minute walk through a tough neighborhood in the cold to the car.
'Intent' better be part of this story you're wondering we haven't heard everything about. Please ping me to any thread where we learn of violent intent.
(As far as need for equipment, I'm pretty sure the vast majority of armed police have never shot anyone with their sidearm. I do know a paramedic who had to use his knife to cut a child's plastic car seat away from a toddler after a bad vehicle accident where the fire dept had to use 'Jaws of Life' spreader to open up the car enough so he could crawl in and rescue the child.)
This is Ohio not texas.
A true visionary. Sad for us, though.
I preferred the bad old days in NYC when I saw a man parade through the Criterion movie theatre in Times Square with a machete and nobody in the audience blinked. It seemed awfully dangerous at the time but, somehow, I now prefer it to these zero-tolerance days...

The ghost of Columbine strikes again. When I first moved up here to the PNW I remember driving past a rural high school and the kids were pulling out their .22 rifles and go shooting in the forest across the street from the school. They had set up a target range. This wasn’t that long ago. About 15 years now. Now, they’re fellons for having pocket knives and making gun shaped pop-tarts. Unreal.
” Now, theyre fellons for having pocket knives and making gun shaped pop-tarts. Unreal.
“
And when they are 18, they will use the decade of brainwashing in school to go vote, which is the point of all this silliness.
