US now watching 20k Russian armed troops in motorized units on 3Ukraine (sic) border formation by formation. Zero warning time if they move.
“...Russian or Ukrainian?”
They are Ukrainians who speak Russian and are originally from the Eastern Ukraine. Part of the family were sent to Solovki during the Stalin era (that is one reason there are less Ukrainians in the Eastern Ukraine).
Actually Putin has changed the trajectory of the World Order...they thought bringing him into the International Fold and including him this would tame his intentions. They really don’t know nor have they heard the man... he’s really pretty transparent...but the EU and USA want to hear what they want to rather than what he’s actually saying.
When you put aside all the glamour posses of Putin...and his poltical appearances to appear co-operative.....there’s a man there who has a clear agenda and intent on carrying it out...and that is not necessarily taking over countries...only those who have resources he covets.
Ukraine’s fast becoming a train wreck...he may scope it up once they fall...but he had already developed plans to by pass Ukraines pipelines for oil. He doesn’t NEED Ukraine...but will ultimately not allow US missiles on their land.....thsu the deals with Ukraine are falling apart with the EU.
That is why “liberating” was in quotes. They liberated them from the Nazis and immediately annexed them into the Soviet Union. With friends like that who needs enemies.
Well then they do have a plight to where they will put their loyalties. Putin rewards that and important to him ....they will not be able to ride the fence in that respect.
They are in Russia now and must decide, just as the Military of Ukraine men have had to...who they support. If they want to maintain their Ukranian identity then they’ll have to move now or later..but they will have to go. It’s really not fair but but country’s least concern will be to those not loyal to the one they are in..if at all.
Look...the Ukrainians know full well who Putin is and about...they have to decide where their allegiances are and go from there...better they leave the areas in dispute. Why expect Putin to be more than he is known as?
Dude, post 63 reads like the stuff Goebbels used to write about his beloved Adolf. Are you doing satire or really hot for him?
Are you in love with him?
Nice.
Better he should have had Putin. A safer bet.
He can ask Putin to maybe put the developing war on hold while the NCAA goes on.
Close, Final 8.
LOL, you’re right.
it seems the US/NATO forces were to have some joint military exercises somewhere in the region. This may just be playing tit for tat.
IMO, Putin is in the drivers seat solely because the EU/US has gone “green” whereas Russia has increased its production of fossil fuels (oil & natural Gas.) Green energy has failed and left the rest of the world at Russia’s mercy. At least that is what Putin thinks. He can control Europe simply by raising and lowering prices.
Putin probably didn’t believe the American private sector with it’s fracking technology could overcome Obama’s “Make America green,” and kill the coal industry, full court press for the past five years. It has not, but I think the fossils will win.
Putin knew he had a golden opportunity when Obama was elected as POTUS. Obama is America’s gift to Putin’s dream of being the major player on the world stage. Obama, Biden, Hagel and Kerry - that is worst lineup of US leadership possible. Satan himself must be calling the shots.
I kept reading before Russia had 80,000 troops on the border, sounds like most went home. Putin’s not going to invade Eastern Ukraine with a measly 20,000.
Monterrosa, I hope you are well.
I read an opinion article yesterday that suggested Crimea will become a “federal” enclave; much like Moscow and Saint Petersburg. Has your family mentioned that possibility? Has the government changed to the ruble yet? I had read that they would honor the Hrivnya for a period of time.
My best wishes, and prayers to you, and your family, my FRiend. Please let me know if there is anything that I can do to help.
When I was in Kiev in January, those I talked with thought the cold weather would terminate Maidan. It didn’t. The people in Maidan impressed me with their resilience. There are many good, freedom loving people in Ukraine. But you know that.
Gwjack
Well Clinton and the EU sure put a stop to that.
