Jeb Bushs foundation is behind a new advertising campaign supporting the controversial Common Core math and language academic standards.
Learn More, Go Further, produced by the former Florida governors Foundation for Excellence in Education, is a series of digital videos which will run for the next 10 weeks featuring four teachers (who volunteered) explaining Common Core and answering questions about the program.
The campaign will also extend to social media, providing interactive maps to point out the areas where the standards have met challenges from legislators and the public.

OK, now I get it. Thank you.
A “trick” for quick mental arithmetic - if that’s what this is - can come later. First, learn to add subtract multiply and divide.
As another Bush would say, “that’s some fuzzy math”.
I honestly have no idea what they are doing.
This is great. He’s hitching himself to a program universally reviled by everyone on the right and on the left.
My daughters had that crap. Math facts were not allowed - illegal in that a teacher would get in “trouble” for teaching them. So my wife and another gal went in everyday and sat in the hall doing flash cards with all of the kids. Luckily the Principal let them do it.
My one daughter had trouble with the new way - as did I! So I had to figure it out to try to help her. We gave up as she could answer them correctly on the homework and tests - even though she got marked down for doing it the “wrong” way. A good lesson to teach a fourth grader - some times the people in authority are idiots.
Her identical twin sister took to the new way quickly!? Thank goodness they both still know their math facts though. Helping them with high school homework I can’t imagine if they didn’t know their adding, subtracting, and multiplication in their head. Like finding the common denominators, common square roots, etc.
I actually do something like that in my head sometimes if I’m not too worried if I screw up. It is rounding up or down to an easier number and then adding in the numbers you added or subtracted.
BUT - hard to do if you don’t know your math facts (flash cards) - which they don’t teach any more.
I’m going to make this short
Ted Cruz for President!
No more Bush!

Common Core is Hitler’s Youth, Only On a Global Scale (open link in red near bottom - what common core is all about)
I'm going to make this short, too.
Jeb as the nominee = Democrat victory in 2016.
James R. McClure Jr. Jeffersonian Anti-Federalist Democrat candidate for IN09
That whole family is!
Welcome to one of the many un-understandable essences of CommonCore.
Good for you. I have a friend who has tutored reading for years. She said that when CommonCore came in the number of kids who need her services have sky-rocketed. For the first time she is having to turn kids away.
The erosion of the American Experience continues unabated,
No , in fact, it’s assisted by those who have profited most deliciously from its downfall as they greased the skids.
There ought to be a lesson in there... but seriesly, we’re talking Common Core..
I believe this is being done deliberately to discourage parents from home
schooling!!! Mathematical gibberish that makes absolutely NO SENSE!!
Kids today can not count change back or figure out a percentage of something without a calculator such a shame!!!
