Former US presidential candidate Senator John McCain and Speaker of the House of Representatives John Boehner are among the nine Americans banned from Russia under sanctions imposed by Moscow.
Russia announced sanctions against US officials in retaliation against US visa bans and asset freezes.
White House Correspondent for CQ Roll Call Steven Dennis tweeted the full list of Americans who have been banned by Russia:
I wonder if that was kind of the point. I wonder if the Russians had to look someone up who was on the US Sanctions List. ("Who? Who's he? Well, I guess he can't take his kids to Disneyland. *smirk*'
I wish they'd have put ME on it- I would call their diplomatic mission in DC and request a certificate, suitable for framing- LOL. The Russians, who are plainly saying that the whole thing is a joke, would probably send me one.
Just sayin’, I think Russia has the right idea with regard to McCain. I second your motion.
All in favor...
If I could ban people from my home, I’d chosen many of the same.
I’m not laughing. My guess is the cheap Russian ammo will dry up.
Look! One thing Mary Landfill wasn’t exempt from! Haha
Send them to the east “to count trees” as they used to say.
Wonderful idea!
LOL.
now only if America would have the guts to ban these people...
If we had any guts, we would punish Russia by sending McCain and Boehner to live in Russia! It would be a win/win because they would fit right in!
“Social-National Party of Ukraine”
Is that the same as the old National Socialist party?
They banned McCain? That’s odd. I figured he was just going back to the mothership for reprogramming, maybe to get the latest Rev software, updates, etc.
Well, we now know that in the Vietnam era the KGB ratcheted up a disinformation campaign. They started the rumors of our soldiers committing henious acts against the Vietnam population. Then a certain witness went in front of congress and testified:
“They told stories that at times they had personally raped, cut off ears, cut off heads, taped wires from portable telephones to human genitals and turned up the power, cut off limbs, blown up bodies, randomly shot at civilians, razed villages in fashion reminiscent of Ghengis Khan, shot cattle and dogs for fun, poisoned food stocks, and generally ravaged the countryside of South Vietnam”
The KGB couldn’t believe how effective their efforts had become.
Now, who was that witness? John Kerry
Who was part of the KGB effort? Vladimer Putin
Consider also that Putin has stated that the collapse of the USSR was one of histories greatest tragedies.
Once one considers this information, it is pretty clear where this is headed and it is pretty clear how Putin expects the USA to respond.
That will actually count as a positive down here for some of the perpetually stupid.
Especially after the lib media out of New Orleans get done with it.
She couldn't have bought better publicity.
"Lil Mary fighting the Ruskies for Louisiana", yup, we have some that stupid down here.
Awwwww - - - - . Putin un-friended “Wacko Bird” McCain.
Why Mary Landrieu?
I think a win-win scenario would be if we sent the "abolish the 17th amendment" types to Russia where they can live out their idealized fantasy world (Russia's Senate consists entirely of locally appointed political hacks who rubber stamp whatever United Russia/Putin wants, and cannot be held accountable by the people). In exchange, we'll take all the pro-freedom Russians who oppose big government socialist policies.
Their argument about corrupt state legislatures is always "if you don't like your state legislature, MOVE to a different state instead of CHOOSING to live in a corrupt hellhole", so we can throw it right back at them and let them MOVE to a country that has a pre-17th amendment type system that's more to their liking than having to deal with an elected Senate where they can vote out John McCain and Mary Landrieu.
Toche' :
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Federation_Council_%28Russia
Unlike the State Duma and the provincial legislatures throughout Russia, the Council is not directly elected, but instead chosen by territorial politicians, resembling in some respects to the structure of the U.S. Senate prior to the Seventeenth Amendment in 1913. The only exclusion was the first Federation council (19941996), which was elected on December 12, 1993. Critics to the Federation Council stress that the upper house is an inherently undemocratic body made for regional elites, with little say from the Russian people. Since the reforms advocated and passed by President Putin in 2000, critics have also charged that the Council resembles more of a rubber stamp body for the Kremlin than an independent legislative body. Many senators, including Council Chairman Sergey Mironov, are viewed as close allies of Putin and the United Russia party, despite rules which explicitly spell out that political factions are not allowed. Since Mironovs rise in the Council in 2002, the Kremlins position on impending legislation is closely communicated to and coordinated with the Chairman and the committee and commission chairs. This top-down approach has meant that the Council votes with extreme efficiency, backing Kremlin positions on legislation nearly all of the time.
Interesting that they didn’t ban Mooshelle. I guess they figured she could come with lots of taxpayer money for a Siberian vacation.
Wow they even banned Bob Menedez. I guess no young Russian girls for him. I wish the Wookie can be banned too.
