Why Is the ObamaCare Mandate So Toothless?
Investor's Business Daily ^ | 03/19/2014 | IBD Staff

Health Care: Some think Democrats designed ObamaCare to fail so they could get to a single payer system. Seems a bit extreme. But it does help explain why they made the individual mandate so easy to avoid.

According to ObamaCare's architects, the individual mandate is key to making the law work.

The mandate is supposed to force young and healthy people to enroll so they can subsidize premiums for the older and sicker. Otherwise, ObamaCare rates will spiral out of control. (Which already appears to be happening, according to TheHill.com.)

The mandate is also supposed to prevent gaming the system — wherein people buy insurance only after they're sick, knowing they can get an ObamaCare policy at heavily subsidized rates.

Even before the administration's raft of changes to weaken the insurance mandate, ObamaCare already let millions off the mandate hook.

90% of all statistics are made up on the spot.

Same with 80% of internet quotes attributed to famous historic figures.

The problem is democrats passed Obamacare by themselves - didn’t need a vote from us... It’s their baby. Rosemary’s baby... but no relation to us.

You could be right on this MrB - your theory explains much of the strangeness about liberal ‘solutions’. Also shows how and why so many liberal ideas fail while ‘appearing’ to come from people of good will. One more puzzle piece - thanks.

If you want to explore it further, read Sowell’s Conflict of Visions.

I’ve since done a lot of worldview study, and I’m fairly well convinced of my theory. And it’s definitely spiritual/cosmic battle in nature.

The “basic wrong assumption” that they have is about the nature of Man. The Real condition of Man is “fallen” and sinful. Evil comes from within the man.

The liberal/left/humanist assumption of the condition of Man is that his nature is “basically good”. In order to explain his evil behavior, they have to attribute it to external causes. This leads, “logically”, to the assumption that evil behavior is in response to environment, and if we could just change that environment, Man would behave according to his “basically good” nature.

This leads the liberal to always side with evil over good, failed cultures over successful, bad behavior over moral behavior, and communism over free markets.

“Democrats didn’t design this to fail... they’re just stupid.”
//////////////////////////////////////////////////////////////////////////////////////////////////////////////////////////

I would expect that anyone that stupid would be dead from not having sense enough to take a breath! It is designed to fail to make way for single payer. It is classic liberalis, claim there is a problem where none exists, offer a “solution” that creates a REAL mess, then offer the “solution” you really wanted all along which is supposed to solve the problem you created. End result, government controls everything, anything resembling private enterprise is simply a smokescreen. To paraphrase Mussolini, the form and appearance of private enterprise but controlled by government behind the scenes.

If this was some cleverly disguised ruse to get single payer that fact wasn’t shared with democrat office holders - you know that Rip, right? Lots of them are going to be out of jobs in a few months...

Also...

Independents are turning away from democrats - feel they can’t be trusted. Here’s why:

If Obamacare’s failing WAS intentional democrats lied to them and democrats can’t be trusted.

If Obamacare’s failing was NOT intentional then democrats are incompetent - AND again, not to be trusted.

It’s possible to be stupid, incompetent, corrupt AND able to breath at the same time. Might not want to add chewing gum to the mix...

Always willing to further the advance of Communism, Benghazi Coward Obama and Gunboat Coward Kerry have teamed up to assure The Russian Bear that there will be no workplace violence when the Russians finally take over control of Ukraine, a former important Buffer Country within the former USSR.

As Commander in Chief of the mightiest military at present, Obama has cleverly determined that decreeing the use of the sacred ‘Edict of Democrat Gun Control’ will be a positive smokescreen step toward the eventual disarming of the US Army.

It is also a definite plus for Obama and Kerry to use at the negotiating table with Putin.

It really was no diplomatic contest with Nobel Peace Prize winning, Multi-Millionaire Obama negotiating against Putin, whose Country is so poor that it can’t even afford a shirt for Putin to wear while riding a horse, Cossack style.

By virtue of ‘The Power of Pen and Phone,’ Shrewd Foreign Policy Negotiator Obama issued the, (soon to be infamous), ‘Executive Order of Gun Control in the Ukraine.’

This was brilliant!

Any attempt by Russia from now on to use their guns will instantly prove to the editors of the New York Times, and other, award-winning, powerful, Top Military Think Tanks, that Russia did not REALLY intend to reduce Gun Violence.

Thus, Russia should not, (at least for the moment), join the rest of the Liberal Intelligentsia Elite, commonly known as LIE.

FORWARD !

I’m sure that is true but every time I try to imagine someone who was actually involved in the crime and knew something about what was in the “Patient Protectiona and Affordable Care Act” and yet actually thought it would be a GOOD thing my hair starts smoking from my brain shorting out. It just does not seem possible that anyone THAT stupid actually walks and talks. I have known a number of people who thought it was a good thing but none of them actually had any idea what was in it. Anyone who is solidly grounded in reality had only to know that a bill with such a title as that had been passed and he would have expected only disaster without knowing one single thing about it other than the title. To know both the title and the fact that it was ramrodded through without a single GOP vote is to know with absolute unquestionable certainty that a disaster equivalent to hundreds or even thousands of Titanics is on the way and that is without knowing one word other than the title. I do realize that stupidity is increasing at an exponential rate but if I allow myself to accept that it is indeed unstoppable I don’t know if I can continue to function.

One thing seems certain, the evil unleashed by this absurdity is of monstrous proportions, I think very few have come to grips yet with just how bad it really is.

I do realize that, if they were anything other than mindless puppets they would have refused to sign it simply because it was far too complicated to figure out but they just signed it without even attempting to read or understand it. The giveaway was Pelosi saying that they had to pass it to find out what was in it. That is why I have a hard time believing that congress was really stupid enough to believe it was a good idea because they WERE stupid enough to sign it without any idea what they were really signing, I think they all had personal motives for signing that had zero to do with trying to do the right thing. I dont think the people who WROTE this mess ever imagined for one minute that they were writing a good piece of legislation that was going to solve problems for the healthcare industry.
