In what appears to be an unexpected victory for a conservative businessman who had made s point of bucking his own party, Republican Scott Wagner is presumed to have won a write-in campaign to defeat party nominee Ron Miller for an open seat in the state Senate.
The closely watched, hotly contested face-off ended in disappointment for the Republican mainstay and a first major victory for the tea party in York County.
With 100 percent of the precincts reporting Tuesday night, write-in votes totaled 10,595 or 47.7 percent, to Miller's 5,920 or 26.6 percent. Democrat Linda Small of New Freeedom nearly edged out Miller with 5,704, for 25.7 percent....

The GOPe tried to stop Tea Party supporter Scott Wagner from winning a state senate seat by creating a Special Election ahead of the primary election where they could pick a candidate.
Wagner got in the special election as a write-in and overcame negative ads by spending a lot of his own money along with support from the Citizens Alliance of Pennsylvania.

To quote my favorite left-leaning author, those reports are greatly exaggerated.

That is just superb. York County is one of those places I landed for a while. I designed and helped build the ash recycling facility that was at the Stewart’s quarry. Good for y’all!

Sooo...now the question will be whether or not Gleason and the PA GOP-E will back Wagner like they’re supposed to, or play “sour grapes” and help the Rat win in order to teach the TEA Party a lesson?

My money is on Gleason and his cronies to sit this one out. They are a vindictive bunch and would rather see their party defeated than back a true conservative.

Gleason has sent a congratulatory message.
But the GOPe has to be worried. There are three Tea Party candidates for the May 20th Republican Primary for State House seats in York County alone, plus several others in the middle part of Pennsylvania and more beyond.
Wagner could influence these races with endorsements, money etc. etc.
I hope Wagner helps Bob Guzzardi in his GOP primary challenge to Tom Corbett for governor. The Establishment is challenging Guzzardi’s nominating petitions and if he gets thrown off the ballot, I hope Guzzardi goes forward as a write-in, too.

Wow! A tea party candidate just got almost as many votes, via write-in, as the establishment RINO and the democrat combined. November can’t get here quickly enough!
