Is misinformation about the climate criminally negligent? Lawrence Torcello, PHILOSPHY professor thinks so.
"The importance of clearly communicating science to the public should not be underestimated. Accurately understanding our natural environment and sharing that information can be a matter of life or death. When it comes to global warming, much of the public remains in denial about a set of facts that the majority of scientists clearly agree on. With such high stakes, an organised campaign funding misinformation ought to be considered criminally negligent.

Universities, where “diversity” is valued, only when your thoughts tow the party line. Otherwise, the Thought Police can take your right to ‘free speech’ and flush it down the toilet. I wonder what the assistant Professor would have thought during the Age when most still thought the World was Flat and to have a different opinion (settled science) was heresy and execution possible?
I’m shocked but then again, nothing these people do anymore surprises me.
How arrogant to think that Man can control the: Sun, the Earth, Earth systems, the solar system? Their thoughts sound like a religion.

Imprisoned?
I have the right to freedom of expression, but you lying bastards should be rounded up and charged with fraud and extortion.
The NFIB and other small business groups should start multi-billion dollar class action suits against a number of named defendents, primarily with algor at the top of the list.
I am a denialist. I do not accept that global warming, now revised into climate change, is man made. I understand many in the left believe climate change “Denialists such as myself should be imprisoned.
Here is my suggestions for them. Lead by example and immediately by doing the following:
1) Stop eating. All food production and distribution require the use of CO2 producing resources. By leaving the non animal products in the ground they will absorb CO2 thereby, according to your theory , reduce global warming. With you not eating animal protein we will neee less of them for the rest of su thereby reducing their contribution to the carbon cycle.
2) Stop driving anywhere; whether hybrid or combustion all transportation devices produce CO2 in their energy chain. No cars for you, no planes, no trains or no scooters.
3) Stop using any electronic devices such as phones, pads, laptops, computers, tvs, toasters, wash machines, refrigerators etc. CO2 is produced in their energy chain and according to you contributes to climate change.
4) Stop using any Heating Ventilation or Air conditioning for any purpose. These devices are massive contributors to CO2 and therefor climate change.
5) Finally, stop breathing. Every breath you take reduces the oxygen content and increases the CO2 content in the atmosphere and you know what this causes. In fact one might argue if you believe you are man therefor a contributor to climate change you may well have a duty to die
..
If you are unwilling to take the above action your a hypocrite that only wants to control the lives of other people through pushing this watermelon issue (green on outside, red on inside.) If you are unwilling to do your part towards solving the problem your sooooo concerned about, shut up and leave the rest of us alone.
TO #16> “It is actually more like witch doctor science”.
Guess Prof. Torcello’s favorite song is David Seville’s “Witch Doctor”, and his favorite academic subject is “Voodoo Science”.
We had 7 inches of Global Warming today in northern Virginia. My one crocus said things that couldn’t be repeated here and my Daffodiles uprooted themselves and moved to Florida.
Also have a Cardinal at my door with a cup in his hand, and the Sparrows are eyeing the cats for dinner.
Yep, Philosophy Professors sure made good weather forecasters, on Venus where its always hot and gaseous, just like them.
I don’t know of a single person that denies climate change. The climate on Earth has been continuously changing for four-billion years. It’s undeniable, if it never changed, there would be no life as we know it here today. Throughout Earth’s history the climate has changed hundreds of millions of times.
The very spot you’re standing on has at one time in Earth’s history been under hundreds of feet of ice, under water thousands of feet, a desert and a tropical forest. Climate change IS in Earth’s history and future.
Tell them to lets get started on it, I am just me but I would be willing to present myself to take to the gas chambers.
Odd, I think anyone who would imprison anyone over speaking their mind should be shot.
We have a lot of communism-failure denialists who should be imprisoned - All Democrats and too many Republicans.
You are in denialist.
Cordially,
He’s an ASSISTANT philosophy professor. Assistant. He should sit down and shut up until he gets a real job, then he should just keep his stupid opinions to himself.
I read/hear similar kinds of comments DAILY ... and not just about climate change.
The climate is changing all right ... to a totalitarian climate.
Personally, I have been on extra high threat alert since about 2008 when I first started to notice these kinds of comments. Even Nancy Pelosi and Janet Napolitano inferred that certain conservative political groups were “potential terrorists”.
This is an extremely dangerous time. It wouldn’t take much for these people to act on their innate totalitarian instincts.
I am right here, come get me.
Bet someone will have to give him gas money.
“Seriously? You are well composed.”
Someone with a very nice home was hosting this giant get- together. I hate people who make scenes. My thinking went something like this. “I’ve been invited into this home and there are probably a lot of really nice folks here. I’m royally upset and I really want nothing to do with any of these folks. I’ll just leave.” Add to this that I’m carrying a S&W .380, which tends to make me excruciatingly polite. I feel I really can not allow myself the luxury of anger when I’m carrying a gun. If I’m driving and somebody cuts me off yelling and shooting birds at me, I mouth, “Sorry,” whether I did something or not. (I try never to cut anybody off or drive offensively, but some people see offense where none was intended. But if you’re carrying you can’t afford to respond.)
When MMGW eventually blows up so much that the public are actively scoffing at those true believers who insist otherwise, there really does need to be consideration of criminal charges against the proponents, both of scientific fraud and just general fraud.
Unless these scoundrels end up in prison, they will keep at it.
The left never renounced the science fraud Paul R. Ehrlich, even though his “Population Bomb” theory was a complete hoax. And they will never renounce the MMGW grifters either. In fact, just today some scoundrel published a piece trying to get the ball rolling of *combining* the two frauds, figuring that maybe that way they can resuscitate the fraud, and push it over the top.
Villains like Al Gore, James Hansen, Michael Mann, and dozens of others should at a minimum lose their ill gotten gains, even if they can’t be put on trial for their graft.
Idiots should be locked up. Idiots such as those that believe in this garbage without any proof of it.
I plan to teach my grandson how to do that as soon as he’s big enough to take to soccer games!
