That would be poetic justice.

“Hope somebody protests his funeral.”

Understandable. A respectiful vigil would make a stronger statement about real Christian values.

Hope somebody protests his funeral.

That would be a sure bet but, frankly, I think it would be even better if his funeral were to be left completely alone.

Won't happen though. Too many drama queens.

My “favorite” story about the Westboro crowd happened a couple of years ago in Mississippi. They planned to picket the funeral of a soldier who had been killed in action in Afghanistan.

The “protesters” arrived in the area the night before and checked into a motel. On the morning of the funeral, a tractor-trailer showed up to make a delivery at the motel, parking behind the vehicle belonging to the Westboro contingent. And wouldn't you know it? The truck wouldn't crank when the delivery was complete. By that hour, the Westboro nuts were preparing to head to the funeral and went ballistic when their car was blocked in. They called the local cab company, but strangely enough, all of their cabs were busy.

Incensed, they called the local sheriff's office, who dispatched a deputy. When he arrived, the deputy informed them that the sheriff needed to see them for questioning. So they got a ride—to the sheriff's office. They were detained until late that afternoon, then released after some perfunctory questions. By that time, the tractor-trailer had been repaired, and the funeral was over. The Westboro crazies were “free to go.”
