MURRAY, Ky. (AP) - Texas Gov. Rick Perry threw his support behind U.S. Sen. Mitch McConnell on Saturday, telling 300 fellow Republicans that the minority leader will win re-election.
McConnell finds himself in a GOP primary fight with wealthy businessman Matt Bevin, who attended the event but wasnt allowed to speak.
I love the number six, Perry told the crowd at the Lincoln Reagan Dinner of West Kentucky. Sam Houston was 6 foot 6 inches tall. And Mitch McConnell is going to be in his sixth term as United States senator.
Organizers said the dinner was supposed to unite the Kentucky GOP behind one mission: taking control of the Kentucky House of Representatives in November. But speakers talked just as much about taking control of the U.S. Senate so McConnell could become majority leader.
The future of America is inextricably intertwined with Kentucky and how these elections come out this time, Perry told the crowd.

all gone.
I live in KY. I’ll vote for the Dem before I’ll vote for McConnel. Dead serious.
Did you see Perry at CPAC? With the weird hipster glasses, yelling? My kids saw a second of that and wisely said,
“what a maroon!”.
He, like Rand Paul and Rubio and McCain, and all the Texas cornyn voters, and all the other idiots, don’t see that either a huge change is coming in the republican party, or Obama will continue his Godzilla destruction, paving the way for Hillary and her muslim faction to finish the job. Bu there is no more McConnell Cantor Boner group beyond 2014. There is no sustainable image with these enablers at the helm they are so drunk on power that their sanity is gone. THis cannot continue in any form. If Mc Connell is in charge after this election, in majority or minority, he wont be beyond 2016. It’ll be over.
Perry can’t see that Because he is an idiot.
Didn't Perry start out as a 'rat?
Perry is now an official member of Club Elitist. Congratulations!
Just damn.
Perry and the number six.
Perry's presidential hopes, deep sixed.
He must need money.
Dang Rick. Why don’t you just retire on a big ranch or something. Supporting these go-along-to-get-along GOPe fifedoms aint helping.
That’s my understanding of his background and what people who have political ambitions often do is stick their fingers in the wind and join the party that voters are moving towards at the time.
As Texas moved towards the GOP and away from the Dems I’m sure Perry saw the trend.
So, you'd rather have a bunch of stooges for corporate lobbyists that are so clueless they depend totally on their staff? And to whom do you think they'd be accountable, those who hold a job on the way out or the people?
Not surprised. Was good for Tx as gov but not very good at all for prez. Just one more reason to not support Tx governor ‘Good Hair’ in the 2016 primaries should he decide to run for prez again. Hope conservatives remember this stab in the back as the primaries grow closer.
Sayfers 2016 candidate list update:
Shorter by one.
Thanks Guuvnah.

Ditto -— Gracias Governator Perry!!
Thanks for posting. This will hurt Perry big time.
Wow, where did THAT come from? Very very disappointing. Need more beer now.
Rick, you've done a pretty good job down here in Texas. Tripped up a few times just like us all, but you are on the wrong side.
Sleep with RINOs, you'll catch liberalism.
As I keep saying, there are many we think are Conservatives that are not. Perry has always been on my crap list and he is perma there now.
horses ass.
