The Marine Corps will open new combat jobs to women, allow women to volunteer for combat specialty training previously closed to them and create a co-ed experimental task force to evaluate how female Marines perform as part of a ground combat unit, Marine officials said.
The task force will be made up of about 460 Marines, and about one quarter will be women, said Capt. Maureen Krebs, a Marine spokeswoman. The task force will look like a small battalion landing team with attachments such as artillery, tanks and amphibious assault vehicles similar to the ground combat portion of a Marine Expeditionary Unit, but about half the size.

Solution to any combat problem?
Ladies first!
I met her at a panel at my first Dragoncon years ago. She was super nice.
Its the perfect tool to irritate the muslims...
Just because your enemy fears someone else, doesn’t make that someone else the Lord.
Can’t imagine this would be a distraction to the other Marines. /s
doesnt make that someone else the Lord.

I was merely passing on FACTUAL, quoted history.
What Gen Patton thought or didn’t think is really none of my ‘concern’.
He was effective at what he did and he inspired people to ‘follow him’.
Because You or I may(or may not) believe in a Higher Power, Heaven or Hell or any afterlife doesn’t mean everyone else has to.
In retrospect the Muslim that believes there are 72(?) Virgins waiting for him if he checks out in a blaze of glory, is what he believes and it is his right, not really for us to agree or disagree. It is HIS belief.
Don’t attack until you see the light of the candles...
“Call me a conspiracy nut.......when women start coming home by the score in body bags, the American Public will decide war is not the answer. All part of the plan to destroy this Nation.”
We’ve already lost over 100 women in the Islamic Wars (Iraq, Afghanistan), and it had no discernibale effect...
As the military becomes the employment of last resort for many Americans, your valid points will be ignored in the interests of PC hiring. At this point I couldn’t imagine an all-male draft holding up to Supreme Court scrutiny; in fact, I’m surprised women aren’t already required to sign up for the selective service upon reaching 18 years of age.
I can't help but think that if a real big war kicks off we'll hear the feminists and homosexuals get real quiet.
“I can’t help but think that if a real big war kicks off we’ll hear the feminists and homosexuals get real quiet.”
Probably; unless it is a justified war in MY EYES, they won;t be signing up my sons. It would be hard to justify throwing their lives away for a country that despises and criminalizes their whiteness and masculinity.

When the fragmented freaks of the left (who elected a “progressive” government in 1936) had to fight the military revolt in Spain, they quickly splintered into self-serving groups with no cohesion (even fighting against themselves - anarchists versus socialists - in 1937). I’d imagine something similar could well happen here; not that units would fight each other, but they might be less than enthusiastic about supporting other units (or downright indifferent to their fate). While some people enlist for very noble goals (which are increasingly mocked by the supporters of the current commander in chief), the young people I know who are currently serving are doing so strictly for economic reasons.
Hey, Vasquez. Have you ever been mistaken for a man?
No. Have you?

Fools in charge?
More like “Dumb like a Fox”. The USMC is going to give Washington what they allegedly want. And when the experiment blows up, the Marines will at least go back to being a serious combat force.
American military history shows that we are not immune to reversals in the fortunes of war. Black Hawk Down, TET, Task Force Smith, Bataan, The Lost Battalion... it goes on and on. Small and even big units getting into a “tight spot” where everybody has to man a weapon and bodies are dropping everywhere.
Oh, there very much is an objective God. My “beliefs” don’t create this God any more than believing in gravity creates gravity.
I will exert strong influence on my grandson NOT to follow in his granddad's path only to have him die because his fire team could not/would not cover his flank.
