Yeah, we really want the UN running this. Another accomplishment of the BO administration.

Carter was an idiot for giving up the Panama canal, so he just got b bested by Obama. The US giving up control of the internet is beyond boneheaded......I have no words to use to describe this BS

The only reason the US and obviously the NSA would “relinquish control” (and if you believe that.. well) is to insulate themselves from legal culpability.

Another accomplishment of the BO administration.
Who knows...this might be the thing that wakes everyone up. Socialized medicine, Benghazi deaths, IRS gestapo, Fast & Furious...they'll ignore those, but mess with smartphones, iPads, Facebook and Netflix and there may be an outcry.
It would be bittersweet if it happened.

Senate Commerce Committee Chairman Jay Rockefeller applauded the governments decision to relinquish oversight of the Internets critical functions, calling it the next phase in a transition to an independent entity that reflects the broad diversity of the global Internet community.... HIs comment might seem normal for a stupid leftist internationalist Senator but it is more interesting in the light of what his fellow WV senator said last month: "I write today to express my concerns about Bitcoin. This virtual currency is currently unregulated and has allowed users to participate in illicit activity, while also being highly unstable and disruptive to our economy. For the reasons outlined below, I urge regulators to take appropriate action to limit the abilities of this highly unstable currency..."
Put those two together and what you have is the banning of an "unregulated" part of the internet by the freedom-promoting China while turning over regulation of the internet to the same. Obviously the US would never ban a UDP protocol and shared database, the internet always works around such damage. But China can stop lots of traffic with much more brute force techniques than we would ever contemplate. I'm not sure how successful they are but they are trying pretty hard.
Think of it like Dem Senator 1 asks to ban only one type of anti-abortion demonstration, for example any demonstratin that refers to any religion in any way. Obviously it would not be enforceable without lots of police at every demonstration including the thought police. But lets say that Dem Senator 2 proposes turning over law domestic law enforcement to the "international community". Now we would see the real world equivalent of what they want to do in bit world.

Democrats want this because they know the UN will try to shut down right leaning orgs and sites on the Internet. They just love freedom of speech so much.

How can Obama give this away? Is he really already a dictator with no limits? I would think this would take Congress, silly me.

The internet belongs to the tax payers of the USA, the administration does not have the authority to give away our assets. Hello Congress.

Allowing the global community to access your financial data and accounts, our regime will be able to spy more directly without the bothersome laws and restrictions they have to follow, the ability to shut down at any time and kill the information highway that is a threat to control and the free flow of ideas and speech. Giving up our sovereignty on all levels

Obama is on a mission to eliminate anything that the United States holds in superiority to other countries.
If it will weaken the United States in some way, Obama will do it.
If it will strengthen the United States, Obama will reject it.
