If this plane did not suffer a sudden demise, there would have been at least some cell phone communication indicating a hijacking or a general problem, no? The fact that no human voice communication whatsoever regarding conditions in the air were received on our end points heavily to a catastrophic event that prevented the same. Instant depressurization, for example. That this plane is safely parked somewhere is, IMO, highly unlikely.

Not sure about that. The phones may have been confiscated early on.

They were too high up (and or far from land) for cell phones to work?

Cell phone commuunicatioms at 40000 feet? Some passengers may have survived and fought back. Game of chicken perhaps with terrorists threatening to run it into the ocean and then finally doing it? Like pennsylvania? Perhaps the intention was to capture it and the plans went awry and it got dumped. Also might explain why al qaeda has not claimed credit for what they may consider to be a botched job. Also they probably want to capture more planes.
