Missing MH370: Query Over Pilot’s Flight Simulator
Malaysia Star ^ | NICHOLAS CHENG AND D. KANYAKUMARI

Posted on 03/14/2014 10:34:11 AM PDT by nickcarraway

A question about a flight simulator in the home of flight MH370 pilot Captain Zaharie Ahmad Shah was raised at Friday’s media conference.

Malaysia Airlines chief executive officer Ahnad Jauhari Yahya said Malaysia Airlines had no policy forbidding staff from owning the technology.

Jauhari said Capt Zaharie was allowed to pursue his hobbies.

“There are several other guys (pilots) who also have flight simulators in their home," he told reporters.

Acting Transport Minister Datuk Seri Hishammuddin Tun Hussein said the authorities will search the home of MH370 crew members if it was necessary to do so.

He said such a search could not be ruled out in the efforts to gather as much information as possible about the missing aircraft.

“If the investigation leads us to that direction (the need to search the house) and it is within the law, we will do it,” he said.

He said the “whole passenger” manifest was also being examined.

Capt Zaharie, 53 and co-pilot Fariq Abdul Hamid, 27, were among the 12-member crew of the Boeing 777-200 with 227 passengers.

Hishammuddin also said the investigators were looking at several possibilities as to why the plane’s transponder and the Aircraft Communication Addressing and Reporting System (Acars) did not transmit any data after 1.30am on Saturday.

“We are trying to find out whether they were shut down intentionally, shut down under duress or if an explosion occurred.

“We are looking at various possibilities, thus that is why I refuse to speculate,” he said.

Foreign media have been reporting on unverified news that police had raided the house of Capt Zaharie in Shah Alam and confiscated his flight simulator for investigations.

However, Bukit Aman sources have all denied the raid took place, saying the officers had tried to visit the family but found no one at home.

CNN reported that Capt Zaharie had posted on German online forum, X-Sim.de, that he had built a flight simulator himself in November 2012.

"About a month ago I finish assembly of FSX and FS9 with six monitors" in a message signed Capt Zaharie Ahmad Shah BOEING 777 MALAYSIA AIRLINES.

Checks reveal that FSX and FS9 were over the counter flight simulator games made by Microsoft that could be easily bought online.

Capt Zaharie studied aviation at the Philippine Airlines Aviation School in Pasay City, Manila in 1980, before joining Malaysia Airlines in 1981.

The Penangite became a captain in the early 1990's and has 33-years and 18, 360 hours of flying experience under his belt.

His colleagues described him as a jovial but professional "aviation geek" who collects remote controlled miniature aircrafts, light twin engine helicopters and amphibious aircrafts.

Outside of aviation, he runs a YouTube channel dedicated to DIY projects, where he teaches viewers how to fix home appliances like air-conditioners.

Also in the pilot’s home: A box DVD set of all “Lost” episodes, numerous “Lost” posters, print outs of every “Lost” script...

I doubt it. At this point no one knows (we think) what the intentions of the perps that caused this were. So far, the distances of flight that are suspected are not long for this type of aircraft so it is impossible to even hypothesize about the flight mode (manual versus on board flight system) that was used and of course, where the plane went at the end of its flight.

If I were running the investigation, I'd want to grab an image of his hard drive, together with a forensic examination focusing especially on recently deleted simulator docs.

It appears whoever did this overlooked a little something:

Transponder off. Check.
ACARS off. Check.
Satcom off. ... ping ... ping

Exactly. It is now more than 1 week later, with no search yet? Do they want to find out what happened, or not?

I think certain agencies do know where its at but are allowing it to reach its final destination.
Then THAT situation will be addressed by a surgical strike as its becoming fairly obvious by now its been stolen to become a Trojan Horse, EMP or nuke delivery device.

that’s really funny, with his being in charge of a plane which has been disappeared for a week, with 239 people on board, their loved ones frantic. Maybe you would be cool about your spouse, parent or child being gone for a week in this situation and would laugh about it, and would stand in front of this guy’s door, telling the authorities there’s nothing to see.

I am going to go out on a limb (everybody does it here, including you, but not so serious as you...), and say it was not the crew. Not the pilot or the co-pilot anyway.

Maybe it was the Iranians illegally on the flight, or someone else undiscovered on the flight with piloting experience.

I think both the pilot and the co-pilot were living the life they loved. I doubt they’d compromise it. They do not appear like the other pilots who have dropped their own planes in the drink on purpose. At least from what we know, these guys were pretty happy in the pilot lifestyle. And relatively young too.

One had female companionship in his cockpit during a flight 2 years ago! I don’t call that a setup for making him appear normal. Nothing like MAtta and his ilk. The key point, the guy seemed to have a history as a player, not a temporary holy warrior trying to make appearances as something he wasn’t.

I do agree, the government needs to get the warrants (or ever how it works in Malaysia), and search the flight crew’s personal effects, to be sure. But I am standing confidently on my limb of this tree, and saying they won’t find anything.

I agree with everything you said.

Imus says it every day, ‘where’s the Plane?!’

As likely as anything from my pov, is a scenario like the one you described, and any scenario that the authorities don’t allow is negligent.

To search their stuff gets them off that scenario and on to another

Investigators don’t make the facts fit the theory, not teams of international investigators. But they have to look at the pilots

That they have t says there’s a lot more they have t looked at. They were just as likely put out of play by fliers Then again, why them? Chance? Incompetent record? Bribable? We’re they investigated by perpetrators? Well, of course they would’ve been My neighborhood juvenile drug addict is going to case my domicile Is there a mark on their computer?

The flight simulator was one source of Subliminal Distraction exposure that would have caused a mental break leading the captain to hijack the plane during a psychotic episode.

That three screen arrangement supplies threat-movement in peripheral vision to cause subliminal failed attempts to execute the vision startle reflex. That process is defined as a visual subliminal distraction.

There had to be more than one source since others have similar simulators in homes without known problems.

There are no pictures, so far, of his home computer. That might be a second source of exposure if it was located where family could walk by as he used it.

If he did things like read books while sitting in the pilots position on long flights, he would have subliminally detected the co-pilot’s movements for exposure too.

Subliminal Distraction, named for the normal feature of our physiology of sight that allows it to cause mental breaks, is explained in first semester college psychology lectures about peripheral vision reflexes.

The problem was discovered in 1964 because it caused mental breaks for office workers. The cubicle was designed to block peripheral vision for a concentrating knowledge workers to stop it in offices by 1968.

Everyone aware of it believes it only happens in offices and causes a harmless temporary episode.

VisionAndPsychosis_Net is a 12 year investigation of it.
