As the U.S. Senate took up a bill to provide financial aid to Ukraine, U.S. Senator Ted Cruz, R-Texas, rose to object to an IMF bailout Majority Leader Harry Reid attached to the legislation.
In the process he blasted Reid for repeatedly demonizing the billionaire Koch brothers - Reid tried to blame the Koch brothers for halting progress on the Ukraine bill.
"I'm beginning to think [the Koch brothers] are a character almost out of Dr. Seuss in the majority leader's mind, they are the grinch who stole Christmas in his telling," Cruz said.
Cruz accused Reid of "using his position of personal power" to target private citizens who "are subject to villification and personal attacks" because they stand up for what they believe in.
"Senate rules allow a member of this body if his or her integrity is impugned to raise an objection," he said. "What Senate rule allows a private citizen to raise an objection when his integrity is impugned by the majority leader?"
"That is not the job of the United States Senate to villify private citizens," he said.

If so, did Russia send in more troops into Crimea as a response - as some have also said?
Were there already Russian troops in Crimea?
If so, why is Kerry wanting Russia to use its troops (those new ones and old ones that were already in Crimea) to halt a Crimean referendum (and stop Crimean independence and put Ukranain territorial integrity first), if Kerry did not oppose Albanian desire for independence in Kosovo, and put that over Serbian desire for territorial integrity?
I thought that Harry Reid said that all Senate bills must be “clean” bills.
Why then does he want a bill now that isn’t “clean”?
More hypocrisy?
Good job Ted.
We can’t let the Dems convince the populace that all the money in politics goes to our side.
The fact is that between unions and hedge fund / tech billionaires, the Dems get most of the dough.
“must be clean bills.”
Weed,er Reid, was confused with the laundered money he is accused of accepting.
Case in point on how the Democrats and various leftist groups will concentrate their fire - the recent 13th District Congressional race between Alex Sink (the Democrat) and David Jolly (the Republican).
The leftists poured about three times as much money into this race (one of the most expensive House Congressional races ever), all for a seat that will have to be voted on again in November.
I don’t believe the Koch Brothers were anywhere to be found on this one, or if they were, they kept a very low profile.
In the manufactured war of words between Paul and Cruz, rand (who knows what side if the issue he’s on today) Paul attacks Cruz and Cruz goes after Reid and Obama.
Should tell us all we need to know
Hey Harry, let’s do a whale trade: Soros for the Koch Bros.
Harry Reid Koch obsessed? Who knew?
Someone pls shove that donors chart in front of the old goat and ask him about the multitude of big Democrat donors listed ahead of the Koch brothers.
Reid is upset that he isn’t getting any cash from the Koch Brothers to supplement his skimmings from the unions and the mob.
Reid is such a slime. How do I detest thee? Let me count the ways. But I don’t have all day.
Although I like Cruz politics, I wish he had not studied so much Dr. Suess as a kid in Calgary.
Obsessed? More like POSSESSED.
He is near the top of the list of Democrats Senators I would like to punch in the mouth.
1. Schumer
2. Durbin
3. Reid
4. Whitehouse
5. Harkin
6. Franken
7. Leahy
8. Boxer
9. McCain
10. Menendez
Sen Greed knows better, that is just to whip up the nut case base they have.
That is the beauty of Marxism. The marxists are never accountable for the expected failures of the policies they foist on the citizenry. They can always claim that utopia would have been reached if it had not been for those standing in opposition.
Of course, as marxism advances and the population begins to suffer, eventually the begin to clamor for the elimination of those standing in opposition! Hey, it’s only led to a hundred million deaths or so......
Hence the foresight of our Framers to provide us with the 2nd ammendment.
