During a hearing on the State Departments 2015 budget, Ms. Landrieu, a Democrat who has been a strong pipeline proponent and faces a tough re-election fight this year, pressed Mr. Kerry to approve the project, which would carry crude from Canadas oil sands and from North Dakotas Bakken Shale Formation to Gulf Coast refineries.
Ms. Landrieu, the new chairwoman of the Senate Energy Committee, said, Canada is our closest, strongest trading partner, and a majority of American people support Keystone. It is hard for me to understand why there are still questions about whether building this pipeline is in our national interest, she said.
Mr. Kerry, who is currently reviewing whether the pipeline is in the national interest, assured Ms. Landrieu that he is looking at the issue objectively.
I understand its on a lot of peoples minds, a mean a lot of peoples, said Mr. Kerry, who noted that he has to review public comments along with his departments lengthy environmental impact report and must get feedback from eight different agencies.
So Im not at liberty to go into my thinking at this point, he said, adding, that he is approaching the matter tabula rasa.

But of course.
He'll be for it, before he's against it.
"I have not yet determined if there are any unattached multi-millionaire oil widows in Canada."
................ he is approaching the matter tabula rasa.............
Gee, I knew that Lurch was French, didn’t know that he could bastardize it.
Probably, on Nantucket “tabula rasa” refers to:
“Boy, bring me some table wine soaked raisins” for my wife”
- who looks totally exquisite whilst her checkbook is in
her delicate hand, with her other beautiful manicured hand
working a Mont Blanc pen writing me a check for another $10
Million from her late Republican husband’s estate.
“Thank you dearest! Would you like to take a cruise on the
sailboat that you bought me for the hour before my
government plane picks me up to deal with Putin: him telling the world that 500 atomic bombs will go off.
This might be our last chance together, unless I do what
Obama and Jarrett tell me what to do!
Please, my love, stop eating the raisins, and join me on
our yacht!

He knows the Obamanation will never say go on the Keystone Pipeline.
“Kerry: Im approaching the Keystone XL pipeline with a totally blank slate”
Sounds like ol’ Kerry’s gonna really be using his noggin for real on this one, then.
Stop posting articles from The Onion.
Sure, he hates oil and is a Global Warmist and is completely unbiased. Can I get me one of them thar hunting licenses?
Pray America wakes up
i agree, the space between his ears is a blank slate!
John Kerry? JOHN Kerry?
He’s the Secretary of State. What the heck does HE have to say or do about any of this?
If he’s not home contemplating what kind of contribution he made to Russian power by publicly denouncing US effort in Viet nam then he should be doing his job.
Which has nothing to do with this.
Did you know he was in Viet Nam?
That is just what I was thinking.
The jokes just write themselves.
Kerry, Biden, Jackson-Lee
The Democrats just keep giving.
“...totally blank slate...”
What’s that old admonition, know thyself?
Sometimes the jokes just write themselves.
Good Grief!
