US Investigators Think Missing Plane Might Have Been Stolen To Use Later For Another Purpose

U.S. investigators suspect that missing Malaysia Airlines Flight 370 stayed in the air for about four hours after it reached its last confirmed location, according to Andy Pasztor of The Wall Street Journal.
The Journal originally reported that they obtained data from the aircraft's engines, but then issued a correction saying that U.S. investigators based their position on "an analysis of signals sent through the planes satellite-communication link designed to automatically transmit the status of some onboard systems."
Satellites picked up 'electronic pings' from the flight after it lost contact, Reuters reports.
Malaysian authorities immediately rebutted the initial report, but have not provided any new information about the fate of the flight. Today, the country's minister of defense and acting minister of transport said the plane simply "vanished."
CNN Chief International correspondent Jim Sciutto reports that the "pings" of engine data, radar data, and fuel range have led the U.S. to alter their search to the Indian Ocean.
The primary scenarios of what happened remain a possible hijacking, action by rogue crew, or some sort of catastrophic mechanical failure.
One person tracking the probe told The Journal that U.S. counterterrorism officials are actively pursuing the notion that the plane was diverted "with the intention of using it later for another purpose."

So does your insider information come via the NSA?
“Someone landed a plane on a runway at least a mile long, dumped 230+ bodies and rebadged a jumbo jet?”
There are places in the world where that could happen. The hard part is getting the 777 back into the air. Methinks they require more delicate care and feeding than your average aircraft.
Unless there is a way to strip out all the high-tech gear and just do seat-of-the-pants flying. What a rush that would be in an 777.
There was a system on the 777 called Aircraft Health System (AHS). It transmitted the health of the aircraft to a station so if there was a problem the airline could have parts waiting to turn the aircraft as soon as possible. The Army was going to use a similar system on the Future Combat System (FCS) vehicles but the program was aborted. Perhaps that’s what they are referring.
OK a freeper here said this first on a thread the other day.
We're being lied to royally. They know exactly what's going on.
Who needs a ICBM when you can steal an airliner,
load it with your nuke then fly it to the target. Who would have guessed?
Plus as I listened to a local station, Malaysian authorities say one thing and then it appears the USA and probably China say the complete opposite.
They need a civilian version of Blue Force Tracker. They spent millions looking at alternatives after they lost the Air France Airbus and of the three options they came up with the US military have been using for years.
One was an auto tracker. We have that on numerous platforms.
The second was a system that ejects the black boxes before a crash. This used on the C5 aircraft, a portion of the tail detaches and carries a beacon.
The third was a system that sends a signal before a crash. Flight data can be incorporated into the tracking system already in use.
And people mock me here on FR for having such a big imagination.
I hope you saw this...
You mean somebody figured out potentially giving that information to the enemy is a bad idea? Brilliant!
Well, they don’t have to worry about our intelligence agencies, they’re to busy spying on us and their supposed political masters to figure out if someone is going to pull a Dr. Evil on us...

Not me. I was also in the terrorist mode but my theory was that they wanted chips or something from the Freescale employees on board.
I think this is the most likely outcome at this point. Planes do not just disappear; the ocean is huge but if one crashed into it, surely pieces would have been found by now.
Absolutely not! They gave up because it was too expensive.
Im am going to go out on a limb again and say the following.
This aircraft is going to be used in a major terrorist op against the US before the November 2014 elections in order to save the Dems butts.
