California gun shop drops the smart gun after furious backlash
American Thinker ^ | March 8, 2014 | Joseph Smith

A California shooting club that was “the only outlet in the country” selling the first smart gun is “facing a furious backlash from customers and gun rights supporters,” as reported by Michael S. Rosenwald in the Washington Post:

Attacks in online forums and social networks against the Oak Tree Gun Club have prompted the store to back away from any association with the Armatix iP1 smart gun…

New Jersey passed a law in 2002 mandating that “only smart guns be sold in the state within three years of a smart gun being sold anywhere in the country,” as another Rosenwald column recounts.

The New Jersey law, or a federal bill recently introduced by Senator Ed Markey (D-Mass.) requiring smart technology on future gun sales, effectively reduces the resale value of existing guns to zero.

I wouldn't bet on that.

I predict that if federal ‘smart gun’ legislation is enacted and enforced, the resale value of existing firearms would rise at an astronomical pace.

After all, millions of people would need reliable weapons for use in the revolution that would follow the enactment and enforcement of federal ‘smart gun’ legislation...

In any civil war, this whole ‘gun registration’ crap lasts approx 2 weeks until enough Brownshirts get killed and citizens take THEIR guns off the dead bodies.

At that point, tracing the typical M4 used by the Resistance only leads back to DHS or whoever issued the gun to their rank-and-file Brownshirt.

The danger of registration is the islamo-commie illegitimate govt grabbing the guns BEFORE full-on
war breaks out.

No different than what happened when machine guns.

They always screw things up.....buy all the guns you can afford now. May be the best investment going forward with these clowns.

And on top of everything else, the watch is ugly and cheap-looking. I wouldn't wear that thing on my wrist if you put a gun to my head...

It reminds me of the idiot that introduced a pistol for the 7.62 x 39 cartridge which triggered limitations on importation of the ammo IIRC.

...the Armatix iP1 smart gun - a .22 caliber pistol that retails at $1,399 plus $399 for the enabling watch...

And finally, it's overpriced by a factor of at LEAST ten.

Smart guns were never about the safety of the owner. They were about the safety of the JBTs kicking down your door.

I’ve posted this, I think, a couple of days ago. As a watchmaker, I am all too aware of the fragile condition of these “so-called” modern electronic wonders.
If anyone lets their very life depend on the electronic viability of this gun-controlling watch....rest in peace..
Also, you wouldn’t believe how many LEAKING BATTERIES in get in each week, having destroyed the watches they had been powering.

Ahh yes, so the JBTs can disabled all smart guns before they charge in.

I like real watches. Not necessarily expensive watches, just good mechanical ones. I wish I had the patience and steadiness of hand to work on them. They are fascinating machines.

Speaking of which, do you renew/refurbish old watches?

I’ve got an old Seiko 6138 that could use a little spiffing up.
