China's State Administration for Science, Technology and Industry for National Defense announced the discovery, including images of what it said were "three suspected floating objects and their sizes."
The images in the Strait of Malacca were captured on March 9 -- which was the day after the plane went missing -- but weren't released until Wednesday.

This location (photo from Sunday) is “down current” from where the Oil Platform worker reported on Saturday seeing something come down. South China sea has some strong currents.
By the way, this looks like it’s off the planned flight path.
Most nations are not eager to advertise their satellite reconnaissance cababilites, so that’s probably why China waited. It might have something to do with protecting the location of their satellite, if it’s a classified bird. So they waited..
Sheppard showing your pictures now.
WOO-HOO!
Sorry, the King has cancelled the U-2’s. Can’t afford the fuel. Sorry.
Yes, and “every sinew of our being knows this is the plane”.
That is actually pretty far off the projected flight path. Take google earth mark out an area the search size and try to find an object the size of an airplane.
Spy satellites are pretty sophisticated. If China’s found the wreckage, it’s an intelligence coup for them. Like others here have said, our Sats are busy monitoring car movements of Tea Party members.
How far would the currents have moved the debris from the original crash site? The satellite picture is more or less where the oil rig guy saw the flash of light counting for the currents.
That guy on CNN seems to suggest he doesn’t think its the plane..could be..if this is the plane I hope it gives the families peace, they have been going through an unimaginable hell for 6 days now, they deserve to know what happened to their loved ones
OMGawd, I HAD that game!!!
With so many ships and aircraft supposedly looking in the area, could the satellite be seeing search equipment?
..and you can bet that China has blurred their released images to disguise the resolution capability of their spy satellites. Hehehe.
Well said. :)
Those images are supposedly from the time of the aircraft’s flight.
Amelia Earhart?
