FRAMINGHAM, Mass. (AP) — Staples will close up to 225 stores in North America by the end of next year as it seeks to trim about $500 million in costs annually by 2015.

The nation’s largest office-supply retailer said Thursday that nearly half of its sales are now generated online, so it will aggressively cut costs to become more efficient....

As people realize how easy it is to shop online for just about anything, we will see more and more of these retail stores closing.

I now buy most of my clothes online. If they don't fit right, they let you ship it back to them free of charge and they ship a different size. But that happens less and less often and now some websites take your measurements and sent you clothes perfectly fitted for you.

My son bought a laptop online recently, picked the specs he wanted, and one was custom built for him. Then he was able to track it all the way from the factory in China (not that they make any laptops here in USA).

Going to retail stores is more and more of a hassle. I spent 20 minutes in a Home Depot trying to find a garage door remote. The two workers I asked gave me aisle numbers that didn't pan out. Finally found them by the light switches.

Went to a Staples not too long ago and it was completely empty. Not surprised they are closing 225 stores. Just about everything there is cheaper online.

It’s the economy. I’m thinking,
Judy Moody and a bummer of a summer for the sixth time now.

Oh BS. If there was a good economy, none of these stores would be closing their doors. This is Obama’s fault. This is his economy.

“Our orders usually arrive in two or three days.”

I order a fair bit of stuff online. It is convenient, and I it is also easy to campare prices when I need to do that. One of my sources is very prompt...I ordered some stuff Sunday and got it today, free shipping.

Once in a while I might order something that comes from overseas...an Ebay order on 2/25 arrived yesterday, 3/10...10 days from Europe...I have ordered stuff from the West Coast that takes nearly as long.

I do not shop at Staples...I do not like the layout of their stores, and I find Office Max usually more competitive. I shop Office Max by visiting their store. And I usually buy ink or toner for my printers on line...prices are way better than Office Max.

I ship a fair bit of stuff to clients/customers in various parts of the country. When I can I use USPS Priority Mail Flat Rate boxes. They get to destination is 2 or 3 days...even to Hawaii.

I do not have an online store...customers are word of mouth. Keeps me as busy as I want to be in my ‘retirement years’. And O’Care does not affect anything I do.

Go to www.4inkjets.com
I have been buying their ink for many years. It does not fade and does not clog up your print heads and it is 2 to 4 times cheaper depending on the model of printer.

If shipping is free, I, too, prefer online. Amazon sells almost everything so …

I find myself going to fewer and fewer films in the theaters and just wait for it to come out on DVD or better yet, borrow it free from the library. When I do go to the cineplex, I find there are less people at the times where formerly there would be decent crowds. With the ability to stream quality shows to my android device for 79 dollars a year, that’s more relaxing and convenient for me to get my entertainment that way.

Used to be that eBay was very productive for our inventory that had not sold. Lately though hardly any sales of any substance. We used to buy boxes from Uline but their shipping costs were/are way too high. If I order over $100 from Staples shipping is free.

We ship lots of artwork and Priority mail is terrific. They did lose a $900 painting last year though.

Thanks, and yes, they are good. Also known as LD Products. I buy inks for my ink jet and toner for my laser from them. Their ink jet colors are good. Don’t run or fade. And yes, very economical.

Amazon?

We tried Amazon four or five years ago. We mounted a Milford Zornes show but I think the price points were too high and nothing sold. Probably should check back into that again for less expensive material.

I made it over. This news is yet another example of Obama’s laid off economy.
