I would so do this.
“Thats why they call it the cockpit, honey.”
Damn! I was going to post that!
agree. Not guilty.
I once rode on a foreign airlines of an underdeveloped nation, they seemed to sort of let some young, less than 10 years old go up there, whether it was right in the cockpit, that I’m unsure of but the doors of the cockpit were certainly opened up.
You’re saying they’re lost?
If the pilot went to take a leak and was overpowered, and the copilot left the door open, it would explain a lot, including the last radio communication, which was mumbled and unintelligible. It would also explain why the transponder was switched off. It appears it may have been if there’s no record of the plane after the turn, and no debris.
I went into a British Airways 747 cockpit in the ‘90s. We were over the Atlantic. That really wasn’t unusual pre 9/11. The pilots let a bunch of people up on the flight deck during that flight.
It's all speculation at this point.
I don’t understand the purpose of a terrorist act that remains unclaimed and unknown. I’m not saying that it couldn’t be. It just seems odd that there would be no claims of responsibility. The purpose of terrorism is to create terror, right?
Most likely scenario at this point is sudden jihadi syndrome by one of the pilots or a bomb. I would look real close at the co-pilot.
“Little Jimmy, do you like gladiator movies?”
“Jimmy, have you ever been in a Turkish prison?”
Shortest membership on record....
The pilot comes on the intercom and says there's no need to panic, etc., but it will take extra hour to get to the nearest airport.
Another engine goes out, and the pilot repeats his spiel, except that it's going to take two hours to land.
So the third engine dies, and the pilot...it will take four hours...
The first guy turns to the second, and says "I hope that last engine doesn't quit, or else we'll never get down."
“I used to drive for Trailways. We wore uniforms very similar to pilots. It was amazing how handsome, charming and sexy I was until I told the ladies my occupation.”
That’s OK... you and airline pilots have a lot in common... they just drive the bus at a different altitude.
Agreed. If I were a 27 year-old pilot, I would be using whatever advantage I had to get a phone number from that bird.
Girls can be dangerous.
I'm not so sure. We've come to accept that terror is a global condition. A terrorist event usually unites people affected by it.
But the unknown? That's unsettling.
Before 9/11 it was routine practice for off duty pilots, even from other airlines, sit be invited up to the flight deck and sit in the jump seat to schmooze.
There was some speculation that this is how at least some of the hijackers gained access that fateful day.
