A showdown is developing between a sizable number of Connecticut state police officers and the politicians who passed into law highly restrictive gun control, gun bans, and bans on high capacity magazines. Gun rights legal expert and activist David Hardy reported Friday that 250 law enforcement officers in Connecticut have signed an open letter stating that they will not enforce the new anti-gun and magazine laws, which they consider to be a violation of the Second Amendment to the U.S. Constitution.

"I honestly thought from my own standpoint that the vast majority would register," said Sen. Tony Guglielmo, R-Stafford, the ranking GOP senator on the legislature's public safety committee. "If you pass laws that people have no respect for and they don't follow them, then you have a real problem."
Alexander says that many prosecutors and law enforcement officers will refuse to enforce the new laws. Some are on record to that effect, having signed their names to various documents and petitions promising to ignore violations of the new gun control laws. Oathkeepers, for example, is one such organization that numbers among its membership members of law enforcement and military who have vowed to uphold their oath to preserve, protect, and defend the Constitution over the orders of tyrants who would fly in the face of settled Constitutional law.
So we shall see what happens.
Indeed they did, why, if even a minor number of CT gun owners put a gallon glass jug of gasoline behind their front doors, who knows how many SWAT teams could be incinerated in their body armor in the course of an unfriendly door breaching exercise?
It may be legit, I don’t know anything about it. There were others which were false.
Here’s what I read yesterday: http://www.theblaze.com/stories/2014/03/10/rumor-check-are-connecticut-police-refusing-to-enforce-gun-laws/
Somebody needs to interview some of their more wacky state legislators screaming that all these policemen should be fired and arrested for disobeying orders, and that everyone who breaks the law will be put in prison, even though the legislature will have to raise taxes to build more prisons.
You know. Calm, rational stuff like that. Kind of a mix of Captains Bligh and Queeg. Goes over real good with the voters.

There are several stories going around involving the Connecticut Police. The first one is one about how most of the CT police are refusing to register their so-called assault weapons. The original story is here: Connecticut halts plans to round up firearms after finding most cops in the state are on the list
The fact that the story is posted on a satire website seems to be lost on most people, judging by the number of times its been emailed to me or posted on Facebook. The very title of the website should be the first clue, Call the Cops: Americas 27th most trusted source for public safety news. The top of the page also lists Our latest 12% factual headlines. In case youre still not sure, the bottom of the page contains a disclaimer:
This site is a satire of the current state of Law Enforcement, Fire Fighting and Emergency Medical work. Stories posted here are not real and you should not assume them to have any basis in any real fact. Heck we tend to leave in spelling and grammer errors just to prove we is not the professional media. No reference of an individual, company, or government entity seeks to inflict malice or emotional harm.
Yet this story still continues to be spread as the truth.
The second one is worse, in that it appears to be an actual hoax. Unfortunately it also had an air of legitimacy because it originated at a legitimate and well-respected website. Im talking about Some Connecticut police refusing to enforce AW law, which was first posted on the website of noted firearm law specialist and author, attorney Dave Hardy. He writes that he was emailed by one Tyler Jackson, who is the head of the Connecticut Peace Officers Association. Mr Jackson writes that they would soon be publishing an open letter stating that the Connecticut police will not be party to the oppression of the people of the state by enforcing an unconstitutional law.
Sounds great, and the story has been picked up by by many other media sites and passed along. Problem is there doesnt seem to be a Connecticut Peace Officers Association. We have a Police Association of Connecticut, but they dont list a Tyler Jackson as their head, or even a board member or spokesperson. Hardy has since updated the story, saying
. Id treat this as a possible hoax. I would have done more digging except that when I posted I was on a plane, as part of 4,000-miles-in-36-hours trip.
These stories play up our hopes that the police will not enforce an unconstitutional law, and I guess we really want to believe theyre true. But passing around wrong or misleading info doesnt help. Ive often said we have truth and facts on our side, all the antis have is emotion and lies. Lets not stoop to their level .. were better than that.
Then, some jerk of a cop Joseph Peterson in his town said he can hardly wait to batter down John Cinque’s door, seize his property, and arrest him. http://www.examiner.com/article/vet-conn-cop-said-i-cannot-wait-to-get-the-order-to-kick-your-door-in
Question for Branford officer Joseph Peterson: just how far are you prepared to go, officer? Murder? It certainly sounds like you're channeling your inner Nazi here. Here's a thought you might want to consider. The Rule of Law dies in CT when the first victim's body hits the floor and is replaced by the Law of the Jungle. Do you like to go home to your family at night? Would you like to live to collect your pension? If you murder your fellow neighbors, they will murder you back. It's called retribution; it is called civil war. Civil wars are NOT civil affairs.
“They chose wisely.”
BUMP!
Here’s the original source of the “250 Cops refuse to enforce” hoax.
Just some journo wannabe fresh out of college making stuff up. He doesn’t source anything beyond his own claim of having spoken to those he names. They only exist in his mind.
This is a recent prior letter sent to 1212 email addresses in CT law enforcement:
An Open Letter to the Men and Women of the Connecticut State Police: You are NOT the enemy (UNLESS YOU CHOOSE TO BE.)
http://sipseystreetirregulars.blogspot.com/2014/02/an-open-letter-to-men-and-women-of.html
This letter is real.
The one from the officers, I will try and verify.
God bless them!!
BS.
The cops in CT can’t wait to kick down some doors all dressed up in their SWAT costumes.
And they will pick the biggest loudmouths who keep saying “come get them.”
They cannot wait to kick them to the ground.
This will end in submission, not revolution.
That’s unfortunate. I thought it sounded too good to be true, imagine police actually standing up for the Constitution they swore to uphold.
Now I’m bummed. But I’m still holding out that there is some truth behind this. My brother is a cop and is all for 2nd Amendment rights so I KNOW there are cops out there who are. I just hope there are some in Connecticut.
I'm a little skeptical, but I would love for it to be true.
Ayup. I wouldn’t let my guard down.
Interesting. I hope this pressages a welcome trend...
As a Southern boy, the “Total War” strategy and tactics employed by Sherman have filled my heart over the years with both rage and a certain admiration.
If those who would rule us in their governmental roles, rather than serve us, want to push this to a civil war then I hope our ROE are as brutally effective as those of Sherman. We certainly should expect no quarter from them, and we should give none.
It is too bad, I agree. Problem with the whole story is there is no such thing as the Connecticut Peace Officers Association.
