I caught a bit of Rick Perry's CPAC speech today and, boy, does he have a fire in the belly.
Had we seen this fire in 2012, then perhaps he would have won the GOP nomination. Of course, Perry underwent back surgery which significantly contributed to his lackluster campaign.

I remember there was a lot of excitement and enthusiasm when he threw his hat in the ring. He sunk like a lead balloon. I hope he’s feeling better.
Cruz for me. Let’s not fall for the left’s tactic posing as a conservatives all over the Internet and posting about particular candidates to get the right to split up their votes so the lefties win.
Ben Carson is the dark horse.
I hope Perry has fully recovered as well. I believe he can be of some benefit to the conservative platform, but not as a presidential candidate.
No conservative can win UNLESS he/she starts useing the word SOCIALISM....
And in THEIR FACE put to the Ameircan people do you want socialism or NOT?..
DON’T hide from it.. shout it from the housetops..
DO YOU WANT the gIvernment in every aspect of your lives OR WHAT?..
IF you DO then vote for that....... IF NOT then vote for me..
BECAUSE I will dismantle every aspect of socialism I can find in Washington D.C. legally; not in the States but in the Capital..
PUT IT TOO EM’.... because you WILL live with that choice..
IF America is TOO DUMB to choose Capitalism THEN THEY ARE..
AND do not deserve it..
** Whats needed is a PLAIN TALKER... a simple fellow..... socialism or capitalism.... NO MIDDLE GROUND...
WHY?... because there IS NO MIDDLE GROUND.. well proven historically..
My memory of his last attempt was that he was unprepared, tired and sounding kind of stupid.

He had just had spinal surgery in August (shortly before that debate), had a back brace and was taking meds for pain. ...The meds alone would make anyone loopy, but he kept trying.
Obviously, I’m a Rick Perry supporter. His speech at CPAC was what Perry is about regarding Conservativism. He’s done a ton of good for Texas and has had to work with a disfunctional Lt. Gov. and a Dem. State Senate (or House... don’t recall right now) leader similar to Harry Reid.
He was on lots of medication. No kidding. He was recovering from pretty significant back surgery and between the pain and the muscle relaxants I am surprised he was able to even stand up.
That being said. Can he win? Is he Conservative enough and well spoken enough to make up for the ‘Southern’ accent? He certainly sounds Conservative when he speaks. Does his record back it up?
Want to enlarge on that?
Perry was my first choice the last time. I believed that, if he had been elected President, he would have done his best to follow through on the promises he was making. I don’t need a politician that is stylin’ to do that.
Not going to happen. Why would he do it? Besides, as smart and successful as he is he has no experience what so ever in government and that is important. If only for the ability to dodge the bullets.
Perhaps a run for Senate for him, or a position in HHS or other Cabinet level position in a Republican Administration.
His record backs it up. Some might hit him about immigration, but state governors don’t have the authority to enforce federal statutes.
I don’t believe you either “... jump on now or be left in the dust...”
Just because a number of countries support the “Global Agenda”, as you put it, doesn’t mean we need to hurry up and get on board simply because a globalist ideology exists.
If we held to that view in our countries early history, America wouldn’t be America.
I don’t believe you can win an election on that platform because people wish to hear ideas and soluations on a number of issues. It’s not as simple as that.
Plain or Cruz
He was probably lucid enough, but didn’t realize how much of a toll it can be to run for President in terms of not being rested and always having to be on the go and the amount of learning that was required once you threw your hat in the ring.
My hope is that he used the last four years productively knowing that he intended to try again.
Alright. So you are “rather heartless”, but not that heartless. :^)
Perry had a lot of financial and voter support. I can only assume that he didn’t wish to let his supporters down.
