A Malaysia Airlines flight carrying 239 people has lost contact with air traffic control and was still missing two hours after it was supposed to have landed in Beijing, the airline said Saturday morning.
The airline told NBC News that a search-and-rescue mission was under way but said it had no further information.
The flight from Kuala Lumpur, carrying 227 passengers, including two infants, and 12 crew members, had been scheduled to land at 6:30 a.m. in Beijing (5:30 p.m. ET Friday).

I’ve noticed the concentration on security for Americans. I honestly believe they want to impress us with their security but they don’t want to discomfort other nationalities. However, at least in Thailand, they do look closely at young Middle Eastern males. Just the youth though.
That is misleading what you wrote. Approx 6 hr flight with 7.5 hrs of fuel on board.

It was a Boeing and not an Airbus,so at least its not due to some French idiot playing with a joystick.
MANPAD launched from boat? Our weather sats alone can see the signatures of things like this near the surface.

True, but it might have been someone with a sophisticated launcher, either way, sad for the victims, most likely they are all deceased if the plane did crash, which it seems like it probably did

It crashed during the night. The sun has been up there for just an hour or two.

Yes, but not the reason for the crash. CNN is saying as of this time it would be out of fuel. It can’t stay up forever!
