A Malaysia Airlines flight carrying 239 people has lost contact with air traffic control and was still missing two hours after it was supposed to have landed in Beijing, the airline said Saturday morning.
The airline told NBC News that a search-and-rescue mission was under way but said it had no further information.
The flight from Kuala Lumpur, carrying 227 passengers, including two infants, and 12 crew members, had been scheduled to land at 6:30 a.m. in Beijing (5:30 p.m. ET Friday).
According to NBC News there were at least 4 American Citizens on board the flight
But terrorists usually take responsibility ASAP.
The only sure way we can find out if it’s weather or turbulence is from pilot debriefings from the same area at about the same time.
If this is a terrorist attack against China, it will be very interesting to see China's response. All of the non-Muslim world has to join in the War on Terror. Remember, to the jihadists all non-Muslims are infidels who need to either convert to Islam or be killed. To them, there is no difference between the United States, Russia, and China. They simply see all three as powerful infidel countries.
Ok, not an expert, but if they saw it drop 600 feet and then nothing would that be indicitive of a massive airframe failure? Meaning disintegration.
Usually with groups like Al Qaeda, they take responsibility right away, they don’t hold back in their “Celebration” either they would take responsibility online or on video..its been too many hours if they were involved they would have already taken credit for it..but I do wonder if the China knife attack which killed 29 people, if there might be a connection here, I wouldnt be surprised
One thing I noticed tonight - how exceedingly rare these are (assuming it is an accident). Seems like 20-30 years ago there was a major crash every several months compared to now when I had trouble remembering the last total loss of life - 2009 I think.
WHAT DIFFERENCE DOES IT MAKE?!!!!!!!!!!!!!
actually i believe he chanted muslim prayers right before it happened....i believe a similar thing happened with a japanese or asian airliner 10+ years ago- the pilot purposely slammed the plane into the side of the mountain....they later said he was mentally ill- ya think?
And you believed that story?
Yep...
“All it would take is a shoe bomb and the plane would immediately de-pressurize and that would be it while flying at 35000 ft.”
Depressurizing the plane by itself wouldn’t be catastrophic. Oxygen masks would deploy for passengers and crew alike. Air pressure would equalize fairly quickly and then it would just be cold. Unless the cockpit crew were disabled or the flight systems knocked out, the pilots could at least get a mayday out or squawk a distress code.
Yeah I would think it would take a seriously deranged person to crash a plane deliberately..oh yeah I remember that, and they have him on tape too saying Allah Akbar and some other Muslim garbage
Sounds like you are making a good educated guess.
It would be helpful if someone else who watched Fox could confirm this is what they said. Anyone? And that is that they said the plane dropped 600 ft. and then vanished.
This seems to be the most important piece of information so far and otherwise, we practically have nothing and I’m reading some of the news reports as well.
omgosh--yes... i remember that... he had been let go... he used his employee badge and got through easily... didn't he write a note on the plane? on a napkin or something? sick...
The media is idiotic whenever something like this happens. Pure speculation like this is not useful. Sure they could have run out of fuel. Or maybe there was a gremlin on the wing. /sarc
That is insane. I never followed this before.
Let’s see if we can get up to 1,000 replies on a thread about something nobody known anything about!
He left the note in his apartment I think....Might have also taken out some insurance for his Mom....It was a long time ago...
Bad scene it was...
On CNN, a NY Times reporter named Matthew Wald was asked by Piers Morgan if the plane could have landed safely somewhere in the remote parts of Vietnam. I sense he wanted to tell Morgan that was a foolish question but he merely pointed out the size of the aircraft and what is needed to land.
Read on another source that it descended 700 feet. I guess we’ll know soon enough.
Prayers offered.
