President Obama spoke about respect when talking about Aretha Franklins famed RESPECT song Thursday night at the White House, but he clearly failed to show her that same respect when he spelt the name of her hit song wrong.
The White House hosted soul singers for a concert, including Aretha Franklin, who performed at the Presidents 2009 Inauguration, Patti LaBelle, and Ariana Grande.
President Obama told the crowd, When Aretha first told us what R-S-P-E-C-T meant to her
The crowd roared in laughter before allowing the President to finish his introduction.

So, Dan Qualye has company now...

I think Rush had it right.
Someone typing on the teleprompter left out the E and Obama is so enslaved to that device that he didn’t know what to do.

Agreed. I remember once his teleprompter broke and he just stopped talking. I just heard it again on Hannity.
What was worse than that was his late night talk show routine at the end.

For the record: No one who is a fan of Aretha Franklin could possibly misspell this word.

The song didn’t get much play in Indonesia.
