Sen. John McCain said Friday he told Sen. Ted Cruz that the Texas Republicans criticism of former Majority Leader Bob Dole in a speech at the Conservative Political Action Conference crossed a line.
In an interview on MSNBC, McCain said he confronted Cruz on the Senate floor about the freshmans CPAC comments from Thursday, in which Cruz called out Dole, McCain and Mitt Romney the partys last three unsuccessful presidential nominees.
I spoke to Ted Cruz he and I have a cordial relationship about this, and he can say what he wants about me, and he can say anything he wants to, I think, about Mitt, the Arizona Republican said. But when he throws Bob Dole in there, I wonder if he thinks that Bob Dole stood for principle on that hilltop in Italy when he was so gravely wounded and left part of his body there fighting for our country? Bob Dole is such a man of honor and integrity and principle.
Dole was severely wounded on the battlefield during World War II. He recovered from his war injuries along with fellow future Sens. Philip Hart of Michigan and Daniel K. Inouye of Hawaii. McCain noted Doles current health condition during the TV interview.
Cruz, a potential White House contender in 2016, was the first speaker at the three-day conference of conservative activists held just outside the Beltway at National Harbor, Md.
Of course, all of us remember President Dole and President McCain and President Romney, Cruz said at CPAC. Now look, those are good men. Theyre decent men, but when you dont stand and draw a clear distinction; when you dont stand for principle, Democrats celebrate.

Ah, shut up McLame
Oh, Shaddup, you old good for nothing RINO
Idiot Alert!
Just so long as it wasn’t a RED line...
No. McCain is offended that Cruz mentioned him but he is using Dole and a shield.
Sit down Gramps! Apparently you got off at the wrong bus stop.
Should read - “as a shield”
LOL. McCain is pissed because Cruz included him the pantheon of wannabe Rep Presidents—President Dole, President McCain, and President Romney—losers all.
Will this decrepit old loser ever shut up?

How many lines has KingHussein, POSOTUS, crossed, idiot.
“... he and I have a cordial relationship”
Is that another fantasy of his? I cannot imagine anyone being even amicable to him because he’s just such a nasty piece of work.
“he was so gravely wounded and left part of his body there fighting for our country”
I have the deepest respect for Bob Dole’s sacrifice. I am sure he served our country, in the military, with honor and courage.
On the other hand, the worst thing we could’ve done was nominate him as a presidential candidate. There is certainly a difference in how Bob made himself as a soldier... and how he made himself as a politician.
Shut up and go away McCain
The problem with resting on your laurels too long is that that they dry out and crumble eventually.
Was McCain as supportive when Liberals slammed Dole during HIS Presidential campaign?
NOT
