Protecting citizens by putting their babies and girls in the line of fire? Logical.

And protecting them from... The troops with guns on them?? Hmmm.

Someone is playing some fun translation games. The remarks appear to be nothing of the sort that are claimed. Sounds like it was actually braggadocio on Putin’s part that if Ukraine moved against Crimean Russians, they would find Ukrainians there standing in front of Russian troops,,,protecting them, because they sympathize with them.

His remarks were made publically, so there should be little debate as to what he actually said.

I’m amazed to see war propaganda everywhere all the sudden. I almost think the west actually wants a war with Russia in their backyard. It’s just insane.

This is likely propaganda leaked by our own State Department.

Who knows, next they may have Hillary comparing Putin to Hitler...

Judge for yourself. This is the offending paragraph, brought to us by none other than Russia Today. (New Pravda)

“We are not going to a war against the Ukrainian people,” he said. “I want you to understand it unambiguously. If we do take a decision, it would only be to protect Ukrainian citizens. Let anybody in the military dare, and they’d be shooting their own people, who would stand up in front of us. Shoot at women and children. I’d like to see anyone try and order such a thing in Ukraine.”

I went to Russia in 1987. It was an incredible experience, and since then I have told people I should go back to see the difference.

Now it’s looking like what I saw then may be readily available to the new generation.

This is such BS. Someone told me the other night that the Ukrainians had burned down 65 synagogues. He watches all these crazy foreign cable channels.

Here is some more anti-Russia propaganda from 18 months ago ...

Putin’s July 4th Message
July 6, 2012
Two Russian strategic nuclear bombers entered the U.S. air defense zone near the Pacific coast on Wednesday and were met by U.S. interceptor jets, defense officials told the Free Beacon.

Either way you look at it Putin’s remarks were deliberate and provoking, he is well schooled in propaganda that causes confusion and division.

As witnessed by the comments on this thread, it works.

Real good Vlad. This is going a long way toward getting you back on the playground with the other world leaders. Not.

OK, I have contacted my friend who is Russian & English teacher near Moscow. This is his reply to this controversy: ” The point he was making there was that Russian forces, if they even would be employed in Ukraine, would be there only for protection and not fighting, and he said very angrily “Let’s see if Ukrainian army will shoot at their own women and children, I’d like to see what commander would give such an order to shoot at their own people, because Russian forces will be behind them, not in front of them” (MEANING that the Ukrainian army will be fighting their own people and not the Russian army, that Russians don’t mean it as invasion but protection of their own Russian people in Ukraine, so they aren’t going to be fighting as such, only at the request of the locals and as help, not actual foreign occupation force, you see? That’s what “behind them” means here - not as hiding but rather as secondary to the local people who are displeased with the turn of events and are ready to fight the new government). It’s a very difficult and unlucky turn of words which when translated directly do sound bad but it’s perfectly clear that that’s not at all what he was talking about at all!!! Very frustrating...
