After Russia invaded Ukraine, demonstrating how Vladimir Putin has zero fear of President Obama, Fox News anchor Bret Baier reran a snippet from the third presidential debate in 2012, showing who felt Russia was a geopolitical threat, and who thought that sounded silly.
Obama mocked Mitt Romney for being concerned about Russia.
"When you were asked, 'What's the biggest geopolitical threat facing America?' you said Russia. Not al-Qaida. You said Russia, and the 1980s are now calling to ask for their foreign policy back because, you know, the Cold War has been over for 20 years."
A clever quip from the man whose foreign policy is a joke.

We all know that Obama wants to see the United States taken down a few pegs so in that sense the Ukrainian matter is good thing to him. What I want to know is at what point does his narcissim kick in and he no longer is willing to see the US made impotent on his watch? And what is he going to do to counteract that besmirching of his ego?
Er, I think it’s forward.
When will Obama apologize to Sarah Palin and others for saying Russia would take back Crimea? They laughed at her for saying that.
Finally sombody gets it.
China is not that aggressive, for now at least. Even if Russia is a dying communist dinosaur, it can still wreck a lot of our living space on Earth.
Actually I think China is number one right now.
Russia is a close second.
God help us if they really start working together.
Anyone with that much firepower (Russia or China) is a serious and to be underestimated threat. When lead or explosives rip through a body it doesn’t care what type or how advanced the technology of the delivery system is, they’re dead.

> “Putin to himself: Well, whattya know. This Obama guy really is flexible. Hes bending over backwards.
Forwards also, unfortunately.
Exactly right. You can be certain that all of our adversaries are now factoring Obama’s weakness into their plans for adventurism. China in particular see’s a green light to flex its muscles. Our (former) allies will rightfully be questioning the reliability of U.S. commitments and agreements and seek new alignments that are more resolute and reliable.
I agree with you but Russia and China would turn on each other eventually. They are mortal enemies but of course what unites them is their hatred for us.
China has started dumping our treasuries. Last December they unloaded a bunch of them. Just something else to keep an eye on.
China’s aggressiveness changes, based on their strength.
That is a truth about Asian power, which Washington and the US corporate elite is completely ignoring.
When Asian countries are less powerful, their population is relatively benign.
However when Asian countries are more powerful, that power flows to their population, and the entire nation can then become malevolent.
This does not happen nearly to that extent, in the West.
The two are completely different. We build up China at our very own peril.
Please do not misunderstand, I am not bashing Asia. I am however to an extent very much bashing America corporations, who are currently building up their own worst enemy ever.
Bring back jobs to AMERICA.
I agree with your perspective, but Russia is an immediate threat, while China is becoming one.
Yup...and if you are not sure... just ask Kerry! :)
Concur. China hold our debt. Russia does not have the our debt as China does. China could crush us by calling it all in.
Concurring bump. Now is not the time to lose focus on the mid-term elections.
The official title of the tsars was "Tsar of all the Russias", meaning Great Russia (Russia), White Russia (Belorus), and Little Russia (Ukraine). This is the heart of the Slavic Orthodox world and Ukraine is the bread basket of that world. Ukraine could feed everybody and everything from the Volga to the Atlantic and in fact that was Hitler's plan had he won WW-II; the plan included a super gauge train with wheels something like 25' apart to haul grain and foodstuffs from Ukraine into Europe.
Did anybody really think that Vladimir Putin was going to just sit there and watch George Soros, Monsanto, the US State Department and the EU just walk off with the Ukraine?? Have we really been dumbed down that much?? Have conservative pundits like Hannity really been dumbed down that much??? I mean I EXPECT demoKKKrats to be clueless....
Twisted into a pretzel, by Russia, our _resident tries to revise History. Real American Presidents don’t tell russians to *wait till after the next election and I’ll be able to be more flexible*. zer0 Fails and becomes flexible!!!
The biggest danger is in the Washington D.C., where our diplomatic strategy appears to be more random than a game of electric football played on the vibrating metal board.
