LAREDO, TEXAS--Texas Democratic gubernatorial hopeful Wendy Davis woke to some unsettling numbers along the Texas/Mexico border today. Of the 14 counties along the Rio Grande, Davis lost sevenincluding heavily Hispanic Webb and Hidalgo Counties. Davis Challenger Reynaldo Ray Madrigals prediction may have come true to an extentWendy has a pro-life Catholic problem and may not hold the support of motivated Latino voters by default.

It may have less to do with his pro-life stance than his co-ethnic name.
Ditto!
What difference does it make?
Gonna be a wild fall election
And a heckuva summer campaign.
Pepcid and TUMS will be mandatory.
very interesting, but she did win the primary?
Pro-Life DemoRat? Isn’t that an extinct species?
I hear he likes this place:
Actually, I was just in Mexico last week (visiting historic churches) and the Mexicans are not fans of abortion.
Wendy is not going to fly outside of white liberal land, I suspect. Unfortunately, there’s probably more population density in some of the places where her kind of people accumulate (Austin, for example), so I hope the rest of Texas can make sure it gets out and votes.
Apparently not from the bumper stickers I see in the Church parking lot. The truth is that the I.Q. of most is so low they don’t get any of it.
Reynaldo Ray Madrigal has run for other offices before and statewide for
Land Commissioner. He’s local to the area and has a following even though
he has never won a race.
It think the name “Reynaldo” had everything to do with his victory in those counties. I bet most of the people who voted for him could not state his position on anything.
We ran some numbers of registered Democrat versus Republican voters in Texas last time Perry ran for Governor. If all the Democrats who voted for Obama would have voted for Perry’s opponent, Perry would not have been elected. It’s all about turnout.
I was a little surprised that so many counties in South Texas and on the Rio Grande actually went for Romney in ‘12. Very Hispanic parts of the state down there.
If Hispanics are THIS Pro Life, look for the 180 degree turn on amnesty at any moment.
Interesting. This is not a good thing. A drop in voters almost always means that the Dem will win.
Actually, that’s how De Blasio won in New York - only 18% of the registered voters even bothered to vote, and the unions took care of making sure they got their contingent out there.
I wish Americans took this voting thing a little more seriously. One of the reasons we have bad candidates, both Dem and GOP, is that they know that in the long run, an increasingly tiny number of voters are even going to turn out.
Also interesting is that Kesha Rodgers, a Lyndon LaRouche follower, is in a run-off with David Alameel for the Democrat challenge to Sen. John Cornyn.
She advocates impeaching Obama!!
It doesn’t help that pathological liar Wendy is anglo, and yankee-born, but that isn’t her biggest problem. I was born in Webb county, my family is rural, conservative, of Hispanic ancestry, and votes republican. Nearly all those from old Texas Hispanic families there without notable exception are anti-mojado, Catholic, and strongly pro-life-you can trust me on that one...
I worked as a bilingual election clerk and the hispanic voters often indicated to me when seeking help on the machines that they wanted to vote for “my people”...LMAO!
