Riders, state legislators and transit advocates spoke out Sunday against Governor Cuomos proposed raid of $40 million in transit funds for subway and bus services.
In his January executive budget, Cuomo proposed that the state use that money to pay off bonds it originally took out to help the MTA financially, but promised to pay back using state money.
Advocates say the raid breaks earlier vows the state made to the MTA and its riders.

Same thing that O’Malley did in Maryland. Steal $700 million from transportation funds for other-than-intended purposes and then cry hard times and demand tax increases to pay for roads that suddenly fall apart.

Good catch! I didn’t think anyone would get it! That song started my musical career! I started out on banjo due to it.
Ha! I play the banjo myself, and guitar. Not good enough on banjo yet to play like the Trio, but am working on it. I grew up listening to them, and this was always one of my faves. Along with Tijuana Jail.
Went from 5-string to acoustic guitar, then electric, and finally pedal steel in ‘71. That’s what paid the bills. Gigged every day! + studio work.
