Ohio Rep. Matt Lynch (R-Bainbridge Twp.) is challenging incumbent Congressman Dave Joyce (R-OH 14) for the seat formerly held by Joyces friend Steve LaTourette, a lobbyist working to purge conservatives from the Republican Party.
Lynch had planned to seek reelection in the 76th Ohio House District until LaTourettes daughter launched a campaign to oust him in the May 6 primary.
Sarah LaTourette Kayser, running under her maiden name, issued a February 6 release with familiar talking points including a prominent reference to infrastructure spending, the bread and butter of her fathers union-backed political career.
Like many voters in the district, I am fed up with the toxic division that has defined our politics and torn apart our party, she said. Being a State Representative is more than just voting no and shouting down opponents.
LaTourette returned to northeastern Ohio in 2012 after more than five years in Kentucky. Her husband, Scott Kayser, is the Northeast Ohio Regional Director for the Ohio Republican Party (ORP). Her campaign treasurer is Scott Coleman, her fathers former treasurer.
Officially, ORP supports all incumbent Republicans.
Neither the Party nor the LaTourette campaign responded to requests for comment.
It certainly strains credibility that the wife of an employee of the Ohio Republican Party, who also happens to be Steve LaTourettes daughter, would decide to challenge an incumbent Republican member of the legislature without a number of people up the food chain giving the nod of approval, Rep. Lynch told Media Trackers.
Ive said publicly that I was born at night, but I wasnt born last night, Lynch joked, noting that he viewed LaTourettes candidacy in his Ohio House district as a green light to primary Congressman Joyce.

Waiting for the posts telling us that any Pubbie is better than a Rat. Even the ones that are actively trying to destroy the base AND the party.
I will NOT vote for Mitch (Harry’s bitch) McConnell. In the primary or the general.
When I draw a line in the sand, unlike Obozo, I only do it once.
GOP War on Conservatives continues.
LaTourette’s daughter (running under her maiden name) scared a GOP state legislator out of running for reelection, and he’ll instead run a harder race in congressional primary? WTF?

I had any number of arguments with people on FR insisting that I vote for Scott Brown a second time, “don’t help the democrats,” etc. Well, I didn’t stay home but I left my ballot blank for US Senate. And thousands like me apparently did the same because he’s not out on his ass and couldn’t get elected dog catcher here. So he’s moved to NH to try to get back into the Senate from there.
But the point is, we are done with voting for people just because they have an “r” next to their name. And those who are always yelling about helping the democrats NEVER, EVER SAY A WORD about John Warner or Richard Lugar endorsing the democrats in VA and GA.
He was my congressman for 5 years, and he hasn’t changed since then. Always a political tool of the GOPe.

“Scared” him? Not really—it’s much more like it pissed him off and made him want to hit back at the GOPe where it will really hurt them.
Earlier today I sent him a small campaign donation and encourage other conservatives to do the same. It’s a great opportunity to replace a RINO in the Republican congressional caucus with another Tea Party patriot.
I neglected to consider that, I didn’t know (or forgot) Joyce was a RINO.
I hope someone can beat Miss LaTourrettette for the state house seat.
Lynch’s decision to challenge the congressional seat is the reason I decided not to pursue running. I hadn’t heard it was due to LaTourette’s daughter challenging his Ohio seat. They just can’t stand conservatives I guess.
I haven’t seen anything Rino-ish about him.
Me either but House Atreides apparently has.

They did to Ken what LaTourette did to his wife Susan when he CALLED her in 2006 from DC to tell her he had been screwing a DC lobbyist and was divorcing her.
LaTourette is NOT a class act.

Just to be clear, the RINO label applied, and was well earned, to former Congressman Steven LaTourette and the RINO he finagled to take his seat when he quit to make more money defending other RINOs and trying to defeat Tea Party candidates.

Matt Lynch is the Tea Party candidate attempting to unseat the current RINO who was, essentially, put in the seat by the previous RINO LaTourette.
I’d encourage all Buckeye FReepers to support Matt Lynch in whatever way you can:

Let’s have more Tea Party conservatives in the Republican congressional caucus so the current RINO leadership can be replaced.
Paul
LaTourett should join the Democrats, since they hate conservatives. Please, let’s kick RINOs out of the Republican Party. If they want to be Dems, why not join them?
Because it’s easier to serve the Democrat cause from inside the GOP.
