President Obama - America Will Not Be Able To Defend Israel

Barack Obama/Benjamin Netanyahu

When Barack Obama was running for President, many of us had doubts about his commitment to Israel. Even though he claimed to support them with no reservations, we were not so sure of his real intentions. This is what he said when he was bidding for the White House, claiming Israel's security was non-negotiable and sacrosanct. He has repeatedly reiterated that statement throughout his first term and into his second. Again, many of us wondered if his actions would ever match his rhetoric. My friends, that day has finally came, but not in the way American Jews or their fellow Jews in Israel would have hoped. This is what he told Benjamin Netanyahu on Sunday in an interview with Bloomberg. Thanks to Gateway Pundit for the tip.

The Times of Israel - Israel can expect to face international isolation and possible sanctions from countries and companies across the world if Benjamin Netanyahu fails to endorse a framework agreement with the Palestinians, US President Barack Obama cautioned on Sunday ahead of a meeting with the Israeli prime minister.

In an interview with Bloomberg, Obama stressed that time was running out for Israel to achieve a peace deal, and added that he believed Netanyahu had the capacity to rally Israel’s citizens behind an agreement…

…The president went on to condemn in no uncertain terms Israel’s settlement activities in the West Bank, and said that though his allegiance to the Jewish state was permanent, building settlements across the Green Line was counterproductive and would make it extremely difficult for the US to defend Israel from painful repercussions in the international community.

“If you see no peace deal and continued aggressive settlement construction — and we have seen more aggressive settlement construction over the last couple years than we’ve seen in a very long time — if Palestinians come to believe that the possibility of a contiguous sovereign Palestinian state is no longer within reach, then our ability to manage the international fallout is going to be limited,” Obama said.

Personally, I would have liked to heard Netanyahu's reaction when he heard what President Obama had to say. I suspect, given the Israeli Prime Minister's attitude of taking care of Israel first, it wasn't something Obama would appreciate. As it is with Obama's relationship with Russian President Vladimir Putin, he is out of his league with Benjamin Netanyahu. Given his past actions, I can't see either man taking the President seriously at all.

Does President Obama really think he can load the negotiations in favor of his peace plan, before they even begin? If there is one thing I have learned from watching Benjamin Netanyahu and his leadership of Israel, it is two things. First, he loves his country. I suspect his love for Israel is far greater than the love our current President has for America. Second, he does not bluff, especially when it comes to Israel's security.

So, we know now how President Obama really feels about Israel. He has no intention of backing them up, should push come to shove with the international community. He will roll over like a whipped puppy and Israel will be left on their own. Is anyone who has paid attention in the last five years really surprised at this announcement? I know I'm not.

These two seem to understand each other perfectly well

Israel doesn’t need the U.S.A. Israel has God. The U.S.A. needs God, but has rejected Him through those in charge. The end is near for the U.S.A. God’s wrath is coming.

... and if he ran for another term they’d vote for him again! (Dennis Prager, a Jew himself, says it’s because the older Jews still think they’re voting for the Democrats of Roosevelt’s time.)

Interesting that you conveniently ignored the rest of my post. But enjoy your isolationist mindset. When the conquering armies come pouring into our country because we chose to stick our head in the sand like the proverbial ostrich and let our friends die, instead of being engaged and helping to defend them, it won’t be pretty.

As long as we maintain our air force and navy, no foreign army is coming to America. As far as all our international “friends”, where were they when we were dying in Iraq and Afghanistan? Too many of our friends are friendly to the point where they want to fight their regional enemies down to the last American.

“Bibi is a mensch.”

So is Putin.
I don’t think they lose time in niceties.

11/21/2013
Prime Minister Binyamin Netanyahu emerged from his nearly four-and-a-half hours of talks with Russian President Vladimir Putin saying that the talks were “very good,” “genuine,” “direct,” and that not only have the two men developed a “chemistry,” but the two countries they lead have many overlapping interests.

” I didn’t know Israel was the 51st state.”

Nowadays, Ukraine plays the 51st state.
Which is next, nobody knows.

Israel can handle her own defense quite nicely, thank you.

They have something in common: they’re both men. Obama has the maturity and perspective of a fourteen year old girl.

Oh wait, who's that knocking at our door?

The current "leadership" will welcome them in.

Oh, the Pre-WW II defenses that Obama and Hagel are bringing us to? Those defenses?

I don't trust Obama's plans for strategic defense, the military forces which along with our geographical separation would allow a prudent American leadership to keep the world at arm's length.

And I don't consider the perpetually meddling team of Obama and Kerry to be very prudent American leadership.

Oh, there were only Americans in Iraq and Afghanistan? You're pretty damned ignorant if you believe so.

I'd give you links for both countries, but I think you ought to expend some effort:

Multi-National Force – Iraq

I know it might take some effort, but scroll down to "List of countries in the coalition". You might learn something.

Considering what we did for those nations in the Cold War, I'd say that we're even.

And I didn't see our good friends and faithful allies from Saudi Arabia in that list.

I give up. My mother was right; some people are invincibly ignorant and will never see anything beyond their nose. Enjoy your head in the sand.

I do appreciate your keeping a very strong disagreement civil. Beyond who’s right and wrong here, it says much good about your qualities as a man.

It would be sweet if Mossad decided to take the little fudgepacker out and leave a trail leading straight to the Muslim Brotherhood.

Incredible. There is also a lead story on Drudge right now: “Obama to Israel - - Time is Running Out.” It is not yet posted on free republic. Perhaps someone can because I cannot post from my IPad. It is a direct threat to Israel from Obama. He is emasculated by Putin, so he threatens Netanyahu and the Jews. It is almost surreal.
