President Obamas foreign policy is based on fantasy By Editorial Board, Published: March 2
FOR FIVE YEARS, President Obama has led a foreign policy based more on how he thinks the world should operate than on reality. It was a world in which the tide of war is receding and the United States could, without much risk, radically reduce the size of its armed forces. Other leaders, in this vision, would behave rationally and in the interest of their people and the world. Invasions, brute force, great-power games and shifting alliances these were things of the past. Secretary of State John F. Kerry displayed this mindset on ABCs This Week Sunday when he said, of Russias invasion of neighboring Ukraine, Its a 19th century act in the 21st century.
Thats a nice thought, and we all know what he means. A countrys standing is no longer measured in throw-weight or battalions. The world is too interconnected to break into blocs. A small country that plugs into cyberspace can deliver more prosperity to its people (think Singapore or Estonia) than a giant with natural resources and standing armies.
Unfortunately, Russian President Vladimir Putin has not received the memo on 21st-century behavior. Neither has Chinas president, Xi Jinping, who is engaging in gunboat diplomacy against Japan and the weaker nations of Southeast Asia. Syrian president Bashar al-Assad is waging a very 20th-century war against his own people, sending helicopters to drop exploding barrels full of screws, nails and other shrapnel onto apartment buildings where families cower in basements. These men will not be deterred by the disapproval of their peers, the weight of world opinion or even disinvestment by Silicon Valley companies. They are concerned primarily with maintaining their holds on power.

And the Washington Post turns.............maybe.
Hey Washington Compost... his whole worthless, pathetic, unaccomplished life has been a fantasy... written by you and the other nazi-esque propogandists.
Mac daddies entire life is a fantasy or in a more truthful term a giant lie.
They have to post one negative to balance the thousands of atta-boys. Now later they can say they editorialized against the abject failure.
What do you expect from a narcissist who won a Nobel Peace Prize just for being himself?
bingo!
progressives live in a lala land in their head that has nothing to do with reality
Obama set out to reduce the power of the US, and he has achieved it.
And I don’t mean only militarily. He has no support from our (former) allies and no respect from our enemies because he is clearly a shallow, self-obsessed politician who thinks that a phone call from him counts as “diplomacy.” He doesn’t understand this thing about getting allies to go along, supporting allies, being supported by them, having a realistic common goal, etc. He does “diplomacy” just the way he handles the rest of the government, thinking he can do it all by himself with a word or two. What a stupid, stupid man.
So is his domestic policy.
Kerry pouts so eloquently.
president obama IS a frikkin' fantasy !
Sure sounds like he lost the Post’s support. Who’s next?
This is significant because it comes from the editorial board, rather than a token conservative columnist.
“Sure sounds like he lost the Posts support. Whos next?”
I wouldn’t bet on it. These are likeminded people - America bashers; Christian haters. Even propagandists have to ‘try’ to make it look good lest they be criticized for biased reporting.
He doesn’t understand what intimidation really means. Don’t make a threat without some backing to it. It’s like making a bet that you don’t have much of a chance of winning at a Poker Game, or being a pathetic bluff.
The Washington Compost did everything it could to put Obama into office and support him. He’s was THEIR fantasy.
The odumbo years in Washington have all been “fantasy” but unfortunately for the rest of us, it has all been real, a real disaster.
