Gov. Dannel Malloy announced today President Obama will speaking at Central Connecticut State University in New Britain on Wednesday to push his proposal to raise the minimum wage.
According to the White House, the president will be in the Hartford area on March 5. Further details on President Obama's visit will be made available in the next few days.
The minimum wage battle was at the center of a headline-grabbing war of words between Gov. Dannel Malloy and Louisiana Gov. Bobby Jindal at a meeting of governors at the White House last weekend.
Several governors emerged to speak to reporters after the meetings wrapped up on Monday and Gov. Jindal said Obama "seems to be waving the white flag of surrender" on the economy by focusing on raising the federal minimum wage to $10.10, up from $7.25. "The Obama economy is now the minimum wage economy. I think we can do better than that," Jindal said.
Gov. Malloy jumped to the microphone after Jindal had finished and responded, calling Jindal's "white flag statement" the most partisan of their weekend conference.
"What the heck was a reference to white flag when it comes to people making $404 a week?" Malloy snapped. "I mean, that's the most insane statement I've ever heard."

Well, I see he has that whole Ukrainian mess sorted out.
who wants to hear that blowhard
Ah yeah, Income Inequality! Finally real issues are being addressed. Never mind that Ukraine stuff going on.
The Clown speaks at a college. Morons listen.
When the going gets tough, the tough go campaigning?? I guess he is just doing what he is good at.
Simple. Dealing with the Ukraine situation would require work, thinking, high-level meetings, etc. Reading a script off TOTUS requires none of that.
Malloy is running behind the idiot with his lips puckered waitng for him to stop short. These are the enemies of capitolism
Colleges and Universities are about the only safe places for him to visit. He know he will have a friendly audience of Gender and Ethnic Studies Majors to fawn over his every word.
These are the enemies of the Constitution, and makes them enemies of We The People.
What does this say about the job prospects of Central Connecticut State University graduates?
Here's a war he thinks he can win. Shhhhhhh! WACO STOMP
Central, eh? I’m not sure that the students there will have heard of him, they’re not too heavy in the head. The keg parties there are great, however.
Something like 90% of “assault weapons” owners in CT have ignored the new law regarding registration. CT is probably the bluest state in NE. Good luck in states like Texas.
I’m willing to bet they will bus in the required audience to worship him if CCSU students won’t work.
isn’t about 12 inches of globull warming heading up there.
His minimum wage emphasis week before last pushed his approval to 46%; he lost all that and more by having his surrogates attack those harmed by Obamacare as liars; all that before the Ukraine really blew up. He’s doing the only thing he knows how to do, trying to work the news cycle to his advantage.
I think I am the only graduate still working and living in ct.
We like to call Malloy mini obama. He is an election stealer just like his big bro. Keeping the poles open an extra few hours in Bridgeport so as to not disenfranchise any “minorities” and finding a few thousand extra votes in the garbage can be done in any state where dems hold all of the important positions in government. We are proud to have the highest per capita of lavishly overpaid and overbenefited state workers in the nation. Their labor unions own the state and they all vote democrat. Between them and the masses of welfare recipients and illegal invaders it is a tough place to be a conservative. We will have our day soon though. Count on it.
