Here's how you stop and deter Putin. it is how George Bush got the job done in 2008 in Georgia.
Bush started out by talking to him face to face in Beijing and letting him know, man to man, that it was not going to go as Putin imagined.
We had military advisors already on the ground there. Bush immediately expedited the return of 2,000 members of Georgia's 31st Light Infantry Battalion who had been fighting beside US Marines in Afghanistan.
He then sent in more US personnel and material on C-130s and C-17s...direct to Tiblisi and immediately (which is what we should be doing right now to Kiev). When those US C-17s and C-130s went in, they had a lot of US personnel on them in addition to the supplies and material...and that was in addition to the military personnel we already had there.
Bush did not pull those out...he added more to it and made it clear to Putin that a push into and through Tiblisi was going to put the US Military in the line of fire and that Putin DID NOT WANT TO DO THAT.
In addition, in short order, three US warships and three NATO warships entered the Black Sea. Some brought supplies, others stood by and defended them. The three NATO warships and one of the US warships were top of the line surface combatants with two AEGIS vessels and two other guided-missile vessels.
Putin knew that Bush meant what he said. He had seen it already time and again over the seven years prior. He consiodered the cost of rolling over those US personnel and what the consequences would be, and he knew there would be very severe consequences with a heavy interest payment.
The following are all pictures from the events of the day, during the Georgian crisis, of us material, more advisors, equipment flowing in. Of US advisors already on the ground and training Georgian forces immediately prior to and during the crisis, and US and NATO warships all sent into the Black Sea during the crisis.
Bush drew a stark line in the sand...and he did it with the US military even as the Russian forces were nearing the capitol...and Putin paused, and then stopped, and negotiated.
Now THAT'S how you deter a man like Putin. Stop talking and start acting.
The question IS.. not what Obama is doing to stop Putin...... it is
What is Obama doing to AID PUTIN?..
To imply these two guys are on opposite sides of the fence.. is to strain credulity..
The Ukraine can become the new eastern Europe..
The Russians WANT the USSR back again..
AND will probably get it..
Not that it ever really left..
NO Russian(in Russia) has ever known actual FREEDOM...
Probably don’t even want it.. slavery is cultural there..
Same is true in China.. cultures of political slaves..
Democracy is FOR PROMOTING socialism..
The dictatorship of the proletariat.. (you know givernment)..
We are represented by pansies and pimps and the whole world knows it!
About 50% of Russia’s federal budget is paid for by oil and gas revenue. There’s a pipeline from Ukraine that supplies Russian gas to Turkey. Turkey has two LNG conversion facilities. One is located near the Bosporus and near the pipeline. To thwart Russia now and forever: 1. Issue the permits for the Cove Point LNG liquidification facility in MD. 2. Ditto for the one in the Gulf of Mexico. 3. Work with Turkey and Ukraine to use the pipeline and reverse the flow to feed natural gas into Europe including Ukraine via shipments of LNG. Expand the pipeline as necessary. 4. Ignore Russian protests as once again we beggar the f*****S.
It’s time to wage economic warfare.
You are on the side of McCain, Kerry, the MSM, Hillary, Soros, Obama, the EU leadership and bankers. Hell, McCain appeared on stage with them back in December.
They are 100% wrong, everywhere, on everything. What’s more likely, that they all suddenly got one right,,, or that you are being mislead by their propaganda?
BTW, the European Union is not working for the benefit of European peoples either, and they deserve their fair share of blame for the Ukraine situation.
I am not on the side of McCain, Kerry and stuff.
I am also not on the side of the Russia autocrat who is invading sovereign countries.
Painful to admit ... but essentially true.
Ironically, Stalin purged his general officer corps in the years before Hitler invaded. His stupidity damn near cost him his country,
How do we know that Putin and Obama are not in cahoots with one another and that all this is not premeditated?
Fantastic post and collection of photos.
Yet how can we drum up such leadership right now?
“I am not on the side of McCain, Kerry and stuff.”
Mere semantics, because your position and their’s is exactly the same.
Soros, Kerry, the MSM, Obama, McCain, the EU leadership, and Hillary agree with you 100% that this is a non-Nazi lead, popular uprising, that expresses the honest will of the Ukrainian nation.
Does that give you any pause at all?
They are also not even close to a majority in Parliament that ousted the cretin Yanukovych with a large majority.
Russia still controls all disputed territory with Georgia. The Russians won. Don’t try to spin it into an American victory.
And understand. Im not trying to be a jerk here. But it truly is a “who’s who” line up of the people who are the sworn enemies of American and human freedom everywhere on earth.
They brought us Egypt, Libya, Syria. They fought against the constitutionalists in Honduras. They fight Israel. They are aggressively spreading homosexuality as America’s most important value in diplomacy. They are purging any references to Islam in all terrorist law enforcement training.
Why is THIS crowd suddenly standing with the Maidan protesters? Food for thought, that’s what i’m saying.
Avoiding the questions whether the US has an issue in the Ukraine or not, and whether Putin had achieved his objectives in Georgia, the fact that President Bush could act as a he did was that by then the world knew that one could trust him to do what he said. Putin k-n-e-w that the US troops would really act as a tripwire.
If Obama would follow your advice I am afraid that could be a recipe for disaster. He has shown himself so weak during his previous five years in office that the Russians may well try and test him - something that could either lead to a world war - or massive loss of US prestige.
>>They are also not even close to a majority in Parliament that ousted the cretin Yanukovych with a large majority.
I won’t dispute, you are right. The problem is revolution is over and someone has to be in charge. And it is not all of these enthusiastic protestors.
Nope. This is not Libya.
Of course, those are the values we should stand for?
...
Trying to blame the protest on a tiny fringe element is exactly like trying to say all TEA Party activity is Westboro Baptist Church. It is dishonest to its core.
I don't care what the commies are doing or saying. I am not going to pretend that millions of people who just threw off shackles need new ones in Russian. I am not going to pretend that painting millions of Ukrainians as NAZI's makes any more sense than calling the TEA party racists.
As I see it
A sovereign country rallied against an autocrat. The legitimate Parliament voted to legally and Constitutionally remove him from office. A foreign power has invaded this sovereign country.

We still have some prestige?
I am shocked. lol
