Funny how some people living strict lives at home just go haywire in America. Same thing with some German tourists in Italy... let alone those going to Thailand.
These Cops are morons.
all they had to do was run the plates and find that it was rented by family from JAPAN-
OH THAT TAKES AT LEAST AN HOUR
These COPS ARE MORONS-
Wow. Really well handled by the officers. You don’t see that much anymore.
If only they knew how close they were to getting shot in the head.
Before these people ever foreign travel again, they need to learn some of the basic laws. Unbelievable they reacted this way.
Why do I get the feeling that this didn’t happen exactly as reported?
If you are without a driver’s license, who would rent you a car?
Disagree. Chase was instant. You can’t run plates and go, oh gee, it’s a Japanese family, let’s let ‘em go. it couldn’t possible be a criminal or anyone bad.
I’m just gonna go with that you were being sarcastic.
Well done by the officers.
We had a Japanese exchange student, and she Japanese drivers are nuts.
Yeh, completely ignore that they were breaking traffic laws left and right. Who is the moron?
Fer cripes sake - someone call them a cab!
@ Post 3 - unless you are being sarcastic, I don’t even know where to begin.
This must have been close to St. George, Utah if not within the city limits.
Thank God no dogs were murdered.
I’m guessing they didn’t get shot up because this was a DUI trap and there were a lot of other cops around, most with cameras running to nail drunks.

Ok, if you insist, “They're a cab”.
So they don’t have police cars in Japan?
I love a happy ending.
Even though I have become very anti-LEO, I think the cops did handle this well.
However, having done business in Japan for decades, I can see how this situation evolved. The average Japanese is very easily rattled in the presence of police.
