Ukraine Nazis: Is America Backing EuroMaidan Extremists?

Signs of fascism and neo-Nazi extremism were evident during the Euromaidan protest, according to independent news magazine AlterNet.

White supremacist banners and Confederate flags were draped inside Kiev's occupied City Hall, while demonstrators displayed Nazi SS and white power symbols, AlterNet explained.

White supremacist banners inside Kiev's City HallYoutube EuroMaidan protesters also destroyed a memorial to Ukrainians who died battling German occupation during World War II.

"The taking down of the 'Soviet Soldier' in the town of Stryi, Lvov region, turns a new page in the chaos that gripped the nation in November, and has taken on dangerously nationalist overtones in the past fortnight", according to Russia Today.

According to a member of anti-fascist Union Ukraine, a group that monitors and fights fascism in Ukraine, "There are lots of nationalists here [EuroMaidan] including Nazis. They came from all over Ukraine, and they make up about 30% of protesters.

"Different groups [of anarchists] came together for a meeting on the Maidan. While they were meeting, a group of Nazis came in a larger group, they had axes and baseball bats and sticks, helmets, they said it was their territory. They called the anarchists things like Jews, blacks, communists. There weren't even any communists, that was just an insult. The anarchists weren't expecting this and they left. People with other political views can't stay in certain places, they aren't tolerated," a member of the group continued.

One of the big political parties behind the protests is the ultra-nationalist Svoboda, whose leader, Oleh Tyahnybok, called for the liberation of his country from the "Muscovite-Jewish mafia".

Related Ukraine EU Protests and the Jew Haters Marching under the Nationalist Flag In 2012, the EU parliament voiced concern about "rising nationalistic sentiment in Ukraine, expressed in support of the Svoboda party".

Alternet is a far left website that sees the GOP as a far right party. Why not dig into Pravda’s archives, while you’re at it?

Lithuanians have a fondness for the Stars & Bars, for their own historical reasons. Doesn’t make them Nazis, or racist.

The ignorance by some here about what the Nazis did to the Ukrainians during WWII is stunning.

Most Ukrainian despise Nazis. This article is Russian propaganda.

It's a rebel thing. No reason to read more into it. It just is what it is. The Lithuanians were the first to secede* from the USSR. They see the Stars & Bars as a protest symbol.

____
*The Lithuanian argument was that they were not legally incorporated into the USSR, so they weren't really seceding.

The Russians are playing the Stepan Bandera card. In a nutshell, if you’re against the Russians, you’re a Nazi. In reality that’s probably an extremely miniscule factor at best. Ukrainians fought with both sides in WW II. The memories are still fresh enough to elicit a response.

The contemporary equivalent in this country is racism. We all know how the race baiters have made a good living from seeing racism everywhere.

Wow. There seems to be a concerted effort on FR to label any Ukrainian seeking freedom as a Nazi, and siding with Putin. Nice job, disruptors!

One of them called me a neo-Nazi Soros supporter not too long ago. Try and wrap your mind around that one.

But it was straight from the playbook.

Is America Backing EuroMaidan Extremists?

Uncle Scam funds and arms Christian killing jihadi terrorists to overthrow the legitimate government in Syria so why not?

Nice try. Ukrainians want freedom. Putin wants tyranny and control. Choose your side, kronos, although it is clear where your sympathies lie.

Sounds like commie propaganda to me.

I was about to call BS on this talk of Confederacy flags until I saw the picture.

Still might be BS. Where was that picture taken? Kiev? Or maybe it was taken at Putin's guest house in Moscow.

And who put the flag up? Ukrainian nationalists? Russian provocateurs? Who knows?

“Mark Levin, chairman of the NCSJ, an American organization that advocates for Jews in the former Soviet Union, expressed concern that with elections slated for May 25, a future government could result in ultranationalists gaining power in Ukraine. Svoboda, a rightwing nationalist party, was prominent in the protest movement, and party officials have expressed virulently anti-Semitic sentiments.”

Russia expects West reaction to Ukranian nationalists’ call for help from terrorists

“Moscow expects the West’s reaction to the call of the head of the ultranationalist Ukrainian organization “ The Right sector” and one of the Maidan leaders Dmitry Yarosh, to the leader of Chechen terrorists Doku Umarov, reported the Russian Foreign Ministry commissioner on human rights Konstantin Dolgov .

“A Ukrainian Neo-fascist Yarosh called for Umarov’s help. Is the West relying on such “democrats”? Will the local reaction follow? - Russian diplomat wrote in his Twitter.

On Saturday, the head of the Ukrainian ultranationalist organization “ The Right sector” and one of the Maidan leaders Dmitry Yarosh addressed to the leader of the Chechen terrorists Doku Umarov for support.

He wrote about this on “the Right sector” public page in “VKontakte”.

Many Ukrainians were forced to fight with the Nazis.

The SS would come into a village and have all the men drop their pants. Those who were circumcised were Jews and made to stand in one group. All the other men were given a choice. Join with the Waffen SS or go stand with the jews. The women got to go to Germany and work in the arms industry.
