Signs of fascism and neo-Nazi extremism were evident during the Euromaidan protest, according to independent news magazine AlterNet.
White supremacist banners and Confederate flags were draped inside Kiev's occupied City Hall, while demonstrators displayed Nazi SS and white power symbols, AlterNet explained.
White supremacist banners inside Kiev's City HallYoutube EuroMaidan protesters also destroyed a memorial to Ukrainians who died battling German occupation during World War II.
"The taking down of the 'Soviet Soldier' in the town of Stryi, Lvov region, turns a new page in the chaos that gripped the nation in November, and has taken on dangerously nationalist overtones in the past fortnight", according to Russia Today.
According to a member of anti-fascist Union Ukraine, a group that monitors and fights fascism in Ukraine, "There are lots of nationalists here [EuroMaidan] including Nazis. They came from all over Ukraine, and they make up about 30% of protesters.
"Different groups [of anarchists] came together for a meeting on the Maidan. While they were meeting, a group of Nazis came in a larger group, they had axes and baseball bats and sticks, helmets, they said it was their territory. They called the anarchists things like Jews, blacks, communists. There weren't even any communists, that was just an insult. The anarchists weren't expecting this and they left. People with other political views can't stay in certain places, they aren't tolerated," a member of the group continued.
One of the big political parties behind the protests is the ultra-nationalist Svoboda, whose leader, Oleh Tyahnybok, called for the liberation of his country from the "Muscovite-Jewish mafia".
Related Ukraine EU Protests and the Jew Haters Marching under the Nationalist Flag In 2012, the EU parliament voiced concern about "rising nationalistic sentiment in Ukraine, expressed in support of the Svoboda party".

It would have more significance if Ukraine HAD ANY SIGNIFICANT NUMBER OF BLACK RESIDENTS. But they don't. They don't even have any significant number of Muslims. So who would "White Supremacists" be complaining about?
One of the reasons I did not agree with Demjanjuk, I think mitigating circumstances should have applied there...but the Germans were gung ho to tell the world that not only Austrians and Germans participated in the Holocaust.
Given the millions of Ukrainians dead at Stalin's hands in the "terror famine", do you blame them for hating Russian Communists?
Millions of Ukrainians died from Stalin's forced famines in the 30's.
1 million Ukrainian Jews and 4 million Ukrainian Christians were killed by the Nazis during WWII.
Ukrainians despise both groups.
Read the history about what the Nazis did to the Ukrainians during WWII.
What happened last week in the Ukraine has nothing to do with Nazism.
You are regurgitating what is Putin playing the Nazism card.
Think, what similarly happens in this country when propagandists play the race card.
Somebody should tell them to stop flying the confederate battle flag for their cause. It’s an insult to the tens of thousands of Americans who died under it.

Tell them that it used to be flown by a bunch of dead losers who got their butts whipped.
Is this “false flag” propaganda?
Yeah, me too. A Confederate battle flag in of all places. Strange to me, with no cultural or historical connection, that revolting Ukies would pick that as a symbol.
A Jolly Roger. The Ukrainian flag. Hell, a Rainbow flag. But the Stars and Bars. Weird.
Meanwhile, Russians in the Ukraine support Vladimir Putin, whose FSB actively persecuted and tortured Soviet Jews like Natan Sharansky for years.
There’s no “tough guy” to this. I just don’t want the symbol to be associated with Nazis.
Many Ukrainians volunteered to serve the Nazis - and it made sense at the time for the them to do so because the Communists were so much worse to them than the Nazis had been up to that time.
“Its an insult to the tens of thousands of Americans who died under it.”
So modern day racists flying a flag in their rebellion against a tyrannical government - by doing so - insult 19th century racists who rebelled against a government they considered tyrannical? I’m just not seeing the insult there.
They are sure trying to sell that straw man.
Yes they are. Their example has around 8.5% support in the last election, their high water mark.
