LOUISVILLE, Ky. Facing life in federal prison with no chance at parole while carrying a conviction of raping and killing a 14-year-old Iraqi girl, a former U.S. soldier hanged himself in his cell in Arizona.
Steven Dale Green, 28, of Midland, Texas, did not leave a note explaining the reason for taking his own life over the weekend. He died five years after a federal jury spared him a death sentence in the attack on the teenage girl and the shotgun slaying of her mother, father and younger sister near Mahmoudiya, Iraq, in 2006.

Regardless of what he did he’s still a casualty of a disastrous, wasteful war.

Decent of him to do what the justice system should have done in the first place.

yes I have sympathy.....we put these young men in impossible situations and expect them to act normally and sanely....I hope this young man asked for God’s forgiveness and I hope his family will find peace, as well as the extended family of the Iraqi family....

Me either. Rape a 14 year old. Shotgun her family dead. I don’t care if it’s in Iraq, Afghanistan, or, Detroit it’s pure evil and it needs to be removed from the Earth. Soldier or street thug, the result’s the same.

Would you be that sympathetic to a serial killer who had a less than brilliant childhood? I’m sure every murdering rapist scumbag could find a sob story to excuse what they did.

Or a Democrat. What’s the current amount of the Clinton death toll? 120? Something around there? Oh wait, I forgot Benghazi so it’s 124. And how is she treated? Oh Hillary must be our next President!

Jesse Spielman, Paul Cortez and James Barker are serving lengthy sentences in the military prison at Fort Leavenworth, Kan., for their roles in the attack. Each is eligible for parole in 2015.What? 2015? Next year? For being involved in the mass murder of an entire family? What?

Regardless of what he did?! He raped and killed a 14 year old child while wearing the uniform of the U.S. military. He wasn’t a casualty of war. He was a POS.

Yeah. They were prosecuted under the UCMJ in 2006. l think they were involved only in the rape and not the murders. (Only. [*spits*] As if that weren’t bad enough.)

"Wasteful war?" Yep, now that we high-tailed it and handed the country over to the enemy, just like in Vietnam.

I’ve long been a believer in giving prisoners the option to remove themselves from the gene pool. Make the wherewithal available and let THEM decide.
