WASHINGTON (AP) The sniping between establishment Republicans and tea partyers resumed Thursday as Texas Sen. Ted Cruz refused to endorse his state's senior senator in next week's Republican primary.
Sen. John Cornyn, the Senate's second-ranking Republican leader, faces tea party-backed Rep. Steve Stockman in Tuesday's election. Cruz declined to tell reporters how he plans to vote
"I am not supporting any of the senators from my party or their opponents" in this year's primaries, Cruz said, adding that he might change his mind later.
Cruz, a tea party favorite and potential 2016 presidential candidate, has infuriated fellow Republicans by forcing uncomfortable votes on issues such as the debt, and by raising money for conservative groups trying to defeat veteran Republicans, including Senate Minority Leader Mitch McConnell of Kentucky.
Cruz's comments are especially notable because he is a vice chairman of the GOP committee tasked with winning Senate elections. He criticized the committee's track record and policy of virtually always backing incumbents.

Didn’t Cornyn back Dewhurst against Cruz?
Are you saying Cruz is a RINO or moderate for not endorsing the conservative running in the race? How kind of you.
The team elites are corrupt. Their strategy is an utter failure. They need to be rooted out.
They offer no strategy except silence and capitulation.
They turn off the base and they can't attract any low info voters because they refuse to articulate the message that the Democrats are destroying the country.
Their only concerns are their future paychecks working as lobbyists for foreign interests and short sighted crony capitalist companies that will themselves eventually succumb to the growing tyranny.
Ted Cruz speaks from the heart.
If true, then you mean squat to the party.
Wow, great slogan for winning over independents.
"Independents - you mean squat to us."
Folks, the GOPe is a sulking hot mess and the above desperate poorly thought out statement demonstrates this point.
I trust that you are responding to this statement... “If true, then you mean squat to the party.”?
I wish the tea party organizations would run a “pre-primary” primary, and settle on one tea party endorsed candidate and try to get all the money shuttled to that candidate, so one would have a hope of winning over an entrenched, non conservative, non-tea party opponent.
With 5 or 6 relative unknowns (who all might be very good), the smaller amount of money available to fight the GOP establishment then gets split even further - not a good situation.
It also bothers me that Duane Stovall and Steve Stockman, probably the most favored candidates on FR, and the most constitutional conservative choices, didn’t bother to answer a lot of questionarres from conservative organizations. I don’t understand why, unless someone on their campaign team was trying to undermine them. Those voter guides and questionarres are where a lot of us get our info on people that are in other election districts - like Stockman or Stovall.
Yup.
Private poll on registered voters (not likely voters) from last Friday/Saturday:
Cornyn 64%
Stockman 23%
Stovall 6%
Cope 3%
Vega 3%
Other 1%
I’ll see updated private poll numbers tomorrow for polling conducted today and tomorrow.
President Reagan once said that he “(I) didn’t leave the democrat Party, they left me.” and I know now just what he was saying.
The problem with today’s edition of the GOP is that the party “Elites” have decided that their own personal power is more important than any principles could possibly be. They have decided to throw aside the values and standards of the base, thinking that all they need to do is say that “We’re NOT democRATs” and that people will vote to keep them in power based on that, alone.
I make no apologies that above all I am an AMERICAN and I firmly stand to see that this will continue to mean something. My loyalty is given to God, to my Family and to the Constitution of these United States. I owe no loyalty at all to any politician or political party.
Like our elected officials, I swore an Oath to this country. The huge difference is that I will die knowing that I have never dishonored my sworn Oath.
Death Before Dishonor.
Semper Fi.
Here is some info on Texas Tea Party endorsements. Even this type info gets
little media play outside of local areas I’d guess.

Those numbers are in line with the earlier Feb. poll I linked up thread.
I’m really interested in seeing today’s and tomorrow’s numbers. Hopefully there will be some movement away from Cornyn instead of candidate switching among the non-Cornyn voters. Cornyn sucks and even if he wins, he and Karl Rove will know that 40%+ of Texas Republicans think he is a POS.
Stockman is polling closer to Cornyn than Stovall is.
If Ted Kennedy had been in your beloved GOP and up for reelection would you feel the same way? Are you GOP first or Conservative First?
I’ve just seen some early poll numbers from this morning. Way early to make any type of sane call on this poll in progress, but so far noticeable move away from Cornyn, even though he’s still on top vs other candidates. Keeping fingers crossed...
The Pravda American media spewing lies, lies and more lies.
Seems I recall a statement once made that A house divided will not stand.
Seems you failed to see the movie “Weekend at Bernies”...
Boner and McConnell are holding the GOPe up.. and adjusting his sunglasses..
Turn out will be a factor also in that a higher turnout means a motivate electorate.
I think the motivations would favor the challengers. But all said and done it’s
basically in the voters hands now. Not much the campaigns can do outside of phone
banks to encourage going to vote.
Have you seen or heard of this? Being this late it may not have much if any impact.
