"Last time there, I couldn't get reasonable answers to basic questtions about purchasing a radio. It's like they stopped training sales people."

You were actually able to talk to a salesperson on the floor? Last time I was there you practically had to chase down and tackle a saleperson to get any service. I'm like you, I used to go there all the time but in the last several years I've only gone twice and that was because my portable MP3 player broke down and I wanted a replacement right now to listen to during that day's work out.

So much of what they sell is obsolete.

In my experience, everything carried by Best Buy is found in the manufacturer's current assortment, and usually represents every tier the brand offers. Have you ever investigated the model variety and model years on display at your local Wal-Mart? Do they even carry 4K HDTVs?

"Have you ever tried to find ANYONE at a Best Buy to help you? Who knew they had managers?"

Look for the "Blue Shirts"

I know not to buy merchandise at WalMart because it's often not the same quality as non-discount stores. I've fournd that it's the information problem, that so many of the employees just don't know any more than I do (and I'm a tech idiot).

Amazon now has a function which, after reading their very good descriptions and customer reviews, you can ask a question about the merchandise, and you usually get several answers from other Amazon customers who purchased that item.

Amazon doesn't pay/compensate customers to help their tech-ignorant staff generate sales. I'd decline if I were asked.

It's an individual choice. I like it a lot, and it's no different from discussing merchandise in a real store. Lots of people like sharing information, so some choosing not to is not a problem. PS: My experience is that the shared knowledge is excellent.

I’ve had only exceptional experiences at BB . Where do you shop for similar items and receive better service? My guess is that those mocking BB aren’t satisfied anywhere.

Yes, free from the dreaded “Job Lock”! I can’t wait to see their crummy poetry, hear their bad music and watch them clumsily dance. Thanks all-knowing Clown Prince nobama.

Mine too. We no longer make any large purchases without first consulting the amazon reviews. I'm sure some of them are put there by manufacturers themselves, but no question if a product has a propensity toward a specific defect, you'll read about it in the customer reviews.

Compared to the electronics "help" at Wal-Mart, Target, and Sears, they're friggin' Einsteins.
