IOWA CITY (AP) -
The University of Iowa president has apologized for a remark she made to the student newspaper about sex assaults on campus.

Then she backs down.
That is kinda funny that she would use those words as if it is human nature to sexually assault someone. However, everyone probably understood what she meant and is just making a big deal out of something just to do it.
What's *most* infuriating about it is the fools thinking it'll do any good whatsoever.
All it does is give the fascists a laugh while they checkmark the list and hand out yet another 'pussy badge'.
It is human nature.
It is “progressive” to ignore that nature and assume that a crime-free utopian society is even remotely possible.
Our most base instincts are on the order of wild animals. Once you accept that, a lot of other things fall into place.
It’s not funny. It’s accurate, if one believes that humanity exists in a fallen state.
I don’t think it is human nature to sexually assault someone other wise everyone would be doing it and it would be an accepted part of living. To my knowledge, I have never had the urge to sexually assault someone so that alone proves it is not human nature.
Some thing are inherently obvious. I guess the Lalaland Leftists don’t understand the concept of reality or truth.
Mason and the University of Iowa have a serious issue on their hands, but the irate student body is very problematic for Mason. In the fall of 2012, the Board of Regents declined to extend Masons contract, making her an at-will employee. If the disgust over Masons comments continues to build, she could soon find herself out of a job.
Masons job status is inconsequential compared to the Universitys ongoing problems with sexual assaults. Students and the public in general are demanding that the University get serious about combating sexual assaults on campus. Thus far, it seems the response of the University has been inadequate."
That's a specious argument, unworthy of you.
Because you're an intelligent person with good morals, you choose much more wholesome ways of feeling important and in control, and of working out your frustrations.
But for those who aren't, a sexual assault is their sick way of feeling powerful and in control.
It's human nature to want to feel important and in control of our environment. It's human nature to have to deal with frustrations. And unfortunately, in some folks, it's human nature to deal with those issues inappropriately.
Do you know about Adam and Eve and their disobedience? Do you understand what it means?
ammo: Child sexual abuse stats http://www.victimsofcrime.org/media/reporting-on-child-sexual-abuse/child-sexual-abuse-statistics
This is older but gives better numbers. Please NOTE this is a 45% sampling, just imagine what it would be at 100% and if all crimes committed against 1 person were counted. Word of caution, crime is not counted accurately. More of our governments fuzzy math tricks. It is Hierarchical Counted, only the most serious crime is counted if there were actually 4 crimes committed at the time. Kidnap, rape, rob then kill a person, only the murder counts. Rest flushed down the toilet.
Probation & Parolee’s

This is an older study as there are no newer ones, this gives you a big idea of just how many additional early release of criminals to parole and probation cause. n 1991, 45% of State prisoners were persons who, at the time they
committed their offense, were under conditional supervision in the community—either on probation or on parole. They then committed an additional 74,400 new crimes. Their original crimes add up to 25,900. The NEW crimes FAR out ceded their REPEAT CRIMES.
Based on the offense that brought them to prison, the 162,000 probation violators committed at least 6,400 murders, 7,400 rapes, 10,400 assaults,
and 17,000 robberies, while under supervision in the community an average of 17 months.
Based on the offense that brought parolees back to prison, these 156,000 offenders committed at least 6,800 murders, 5,500 rapes, 8,800 assaults, and 22,500 robberies, while under supervision in the community an average of 13 months.
Newest study hard to pick the actually stats out of.
Recidivism

These offenders had accumulated 4.1 million arrest charges before their most recent imprisonment and another 744,000 charges within 3 years of release.
My point in posting was not to argue the facts of sexual assault crime. I was gobsmacked by the outrage over a simple statement regarding human nature. What I am reading from the outraged ones indicates that they have abandoned the consensus view of Western Civilization.
The Founders well understood reality and what they gave us was exquisitely designed to lessen the doleful results of fallen human nature to accumulate power and oppress the people.
By recognizing that the potential for evil exists in every person, I am not asserting that every person must or will act upon that potential. However some will. That is what I read into Mason’s statement.
But, from what we have in it, seems that the President says that reality is that sexual assault will never be completely eliminated...
...and she would be absolutely correct...especially in light of the fact that we keep changing the definition of ‘sexual assault’ to include things like staring at a girl’s boobs...theoretically, females can continue to wield the weapon of ‘sexual misconduct’ for the purpose of elevated status, to achieve unprecedented control over our social construct...
She was correct when she said that human nature precludes that.
...true, and even more correct than that is the fact that human nature includes the capacity to use offended sensitivities so as to be afforded unlimited societal ease and pleasure...
His argument was neither specious or unworthy, but your insulting and condescending response was.
Seems to me they should ban rap music on campus then.
I admired you for saying that, and I think it's relevant here. People are becoming radically unattached from their humanity. The deconstruction of gender is a big part of this. Animal Rights "antihumanism" and cyber-futurist "Transhumanism" are also a big part of it.
I suppose it goes back, in this modern era, to the powerful but disordered intellectual inheritance we got from Darwin, Marx and Freud. A radical doubt that there's anything you can describe as inherently "human." And if there's not "human" nature, it's absurd to talk about a "fallen" human nature--- it's just a conceptual absurdity.
And there's no awareness about the reality of concupiscence and the results of Original Sin.
My head hurts. O Lord, we're so far gone.

“IOWA CITY, Iowa The Board of Regents has scheduled a special meeting Friday to discuss University of Iowa President Sally Mason’s remarks on sexual assault.
The telephone meeting is planned at 3 p.m.
The board’s notice of the meeting said “the purpose of the meeting is to receive an explanation from President Sally Mason regarding her remarks on sexual assault, followed by a closed session of the board.”
The open portion of the meeting will be live streamed on the Board of Regents website: www.regents.iowa.gov.
Mason is leading a forum Thursday to discuss recent concerns about sexual assaults this school year. The Iowa Memorial Union meeting comes as a new group demands more university actions to address the problem.
The protest group formed after Mason told the student newspaper last week that preventing all sexual assaults wasn’t realistic “just given human nature.”
Mason has apologized for any harm her words caused and pledged to use her power “to end this terrible crime on our campus.”
The protesters want changes to the way reports of sexual assault are communicated to campus.
The university has issued nine such notifications from UI Police this school year, an increase that officials attribute to more victims stepping forward and better information sharing with police.”
Leftists are at constant war against reality.
Very interesting.
My daughter graduated early (this past December) from the University of Iowa. Sally Mason gave the commencement speech and went all out praising Mandela. It was all I could do to sit through that garbage without losing it!
One of the kids who was caught in the rape case of 2007, was a former classmate of my daughter’s from high school.
I wonder what ever became of the case of the conservative woman who was denied the chance to teach law at the U of I. Haven’t seen a follow up of her lawsuit in ages.
