Havana (AFP) - A Russian warship was docked in Havana Wednesday, without explanation from Communist Cuba or its state media.

The Viktor Leonov CCB-175 boat, measuring 91.5 meters (300 feet) long and 14.5 meters wide, was docked at the port of Havana's cruise ship area, near the Russian Orthodox Cathedral.

The Vishnya, or Meridian-class intelligence ship, which has a crew of around 200, went into service in the Black Sea in 1988 before it was transferred seven years later to the northern fleet, Russian media sources said.

Neither Cuban authorities nor state media have mentioned the ship's visit, unlike on previous tours by Russian warships.

The former Soviet Union was Cuba's sponsor state through three decades of Cold War. After a period of some distancing under former Russian president Boris Yeltsin, the countries renewed their political, economic and military cooperation.

Hmmm...

I'm sure it's nothing to worry about but I'm gonna start practicing getting under my desk again just in case.

This is news? There have been Russian ships in Cuba since 1959.

Obama has been stoking a new cold war with Russia that we can’t possibly win this time.

“Obama has been stoking a new cold war with Russia that we can’t possibly win this time.”

You mean a cold war Obama is going to make sure we loose.
Now we know what all the defense cuts are really about.
Don’t put it past him. If he could he would and probably
will if there is a chance it could lead him to remain in
power.

We’re not going to win because we’re broke.

Regan finally won the cold war because we could outspend Russia and break them. We’re starting out in only marginally better shape than Russia was in at the point of collapse.

Like we don't have spy ships and spies all over the world.

And then there's the NSA that spies on ALL Americans thanks to Obama.

Why does ‘t John F’ Kerry made Castro a deal....he gives up the Cuban island to America as the 51 state...

Castro can be given a nice position in the Obama administration, after all he would fit right in....

Or we invade and take it by force...and Castro is left to the will of the people...

Solves so many problems....

We can offer Rubio as a temporary governor...

Wonder if The One is going to fly down there to greet the ship’s Captain? Maybe even invite him up to the WH.

“We’re starting out in only marginally better shape than Russia was in at the point of collapse.”

It’s enough for now but Obama will dismantle it. I have no
doubt that with honest and proper leadership we could change
their mind about it. The only reason it is a consideration
is because with the liberals in charge we are weaker than
we have ever been. With strong conservative leadership
this could all be turned around but only if liberalism is
completely defeated. No doubt, Obama and his fellow travelers
would love to see this country in chains.
