No... as I get older, and the naivete of youth wears off, I now believe there never was.

It seems those “booted and spurred, ready to ride” us have always been with us, one way or another and mean to continue.
And that is infuriating to me, as an American. Hell, as a human being...

It is the human condition and will never stop. Two people can work together, but if you put another person with those two, at some point, two will come together and conspire against the one in a small or large way. There is chaos from then on and if you add more people, there will be larger chaos.
I believe it was Windflier who yesterday said if we stand up and stare our enemies in the eye, they may very well back down. Every time we deny having guns, every time we try to "work around" their ever-increasing regulations and laws instead of stopping and repealing them, and every time we back down from them, they're emboldened. We outnumber them, so let's stop running. Our enemies think we're scared of them...let's show them otherwise.
