The attorney for Lois Lerner, a central figure in the IRS scandal, signaled Wednesday that his client will not comply with a request to testify on Capitol Hill next week.
Attorney William Taylor said Lerner, who resigned last year as the agencys tax-exempt organizations chief, will return and testify only if compelled by a federal court or if given immunity for her testimony.
Taylor stated his position in a letter to Rep. Darrell Issa, R-Calif., chairman of the House Committee on Oversight and Government Reform. He was responding to a letter Tuesday from Issa saying, in part, that Lerners testimony remains critical to the committees investigation.
The committee continues to investigate the IRS' targeting of Tea Party groups and other conservative organizations trying to get tax-exempt status.
Despite Taylor's letter, staffers with the committee told Fox News they still expect Lerner to show up on March 5. Unclear is whether she would answer any questions.

Unbelievable. This is a U.S. Government employee, subject to Congressional oversight. SUSPEND her pension ... now!

WE THE PEOPLE
Pay You
WE want answers.
WE have had enough stonewalling.
WE have had enough lies.
We HAVE HAD ENOUGH.
NO ANSWERS = NO PAY/PENSION.
If they call a Military Retiree back and he gets convicted of ‘past crimes’, does he not lose his pension?
Didn’t they threaten Ollie North with NO PENSION?
A (SO CALLED) Public Servant should be under the same restrictions....
While drawing a pension you are technically ‘on the payroll’ and subject to certain conditions.
If that is not written in, it should be.
Excellent post. You obviously understand the game. Agree, its all a show, for the little people, whose votes they need to keep their seat.
If she does not comply with a Congressional subpoena then issue a warrant for her arrest and have the House Sgt at Arms arrest her.
Congress does not rely on any other Branch to enforce its subpoena.
This goes ALL THE WAY to Obama. That can be the only reason. That and a deep fear of an unplanned visit to Ft. Marcy Park.
even if she’s forced to testify, she’ll lie. She’s a dem, lib and Obama acolyte.
Fine. Ask questions you know the answer to and make her lie repeatedly.
Lois Fuddy?? Maybe Lois Lerner’s family should consider more life insurance on her.
Contempt of Court or something similar? Snitching on higher ups to save her behind?
Come on guys - this is all very real...
Just a point of informations: Insurance policies don't off for a "suicide".
Just a point of informations: Insurance policies don't off for a "suicide".
Zactly
Limited and provisional.
Save yerself Lois.
You’re not a young woman.....
I thought she told Congress she hadn’t done anything wrong.
Doesn’t her lawyer know that?
First, they need to know what Lerner will say before any immunity is considered. Then, it cannot be blanket immunity unless she gives up EVERYTHING.
Knowing our GOP, they'll grant blanket immunity then find out what she's not going to say.
Just keep bringing her in and running up her legal bill. I
d have her there every day for the rest of the term of congress.
Congress has no ENFORCEMENT agency. It would require the DOJ to enforce a contempt charge.
And folks, that's just not going to happen.
At risk of telling you something you already know, I apologize. But for any who don’t, Loretta Fuddy was the director for the state of Hawaii’s Dept of Health who certified the obozo’s forged cert of live birth. Lois Fuddy supposedly died as a result of the plane crash in Hawaii, hence my tagging Lois Lerner as Lois Fuddy. Arkincide happens to though, doesn’t it.
That’s what I was thinking. Perhaps a few days locked up, might get her to be more cooperative. This is just more of the attitude of the whole friggin’ 0bama administration, from top to bottom, of being untouchable. Issa and his cohorts are going to have to make an example of someone, somewhere along the line.
Perhaps a tragic accident will occur.
She has something in her pocket that is starting to stink.
