Obama, Piglosi, Dingy Harry, and the other ilk have run this country aground yet they still work.

Yep, running your ship aground tends to be bad for your military career.....

The navy used to send Captains who crashed their ship to the great lakes training center in North Chicago nicknamed Great Mistakes.

This has nothing to do with Obama or the dims. You ground your ship or crash your sub and you career is over.
Although apparently John McCain could crash 5 jets and still remain on active duty while the last crash was him being shot down.

How so?

You run your ship aground you will be commanding a desk.

Always been that way.

ARTIST: Gilbert and Sullivan
TITLE: The First Lord’s Song
Lyrics and Chords

[HMS Pinafore]

[Capo 3]

When I was a lad I served a term
As office boy to an attorney’s firm
I cleaned the windows and I swept the floor
And I polished up the handle of the big front door
He polished up the handle of the big front door
I polished up that handle so carefully
That now I am the Ruler of the Queen’s Navy
He polished up that handle so carefully
That now he is the Ruler of the Queen’s Navy

/ G Bm / C D / G Bm / C D / D - /
/ G - / C G / G - / CD G /

As office boy I made such a mark
That they gave me the post of a junior clerk
I served the writs with a smile so bland
And I copied all the letters in a big round hand
He copied all the letters in a big round hand
I copied all the letters in a hand so free
That now I am the Ruler of the Queen’s Navy
He copied all the letters in a hand so free
That now he is the Ruler of the Queen’s Navy

In serving writs I made such a name
That an articled clerk I soon became
I wore clean collars and a brand-new suit
For the Pass Examination at the Institute
For the Pass Examination at the Institute
And that Pass Examination did so well for me
That now I am the Ruler of the Queen’s Navy
That Pass Examination did so well for he
That now he is the Ruler of the Queen’s Navy

Of legal knowledge I acquired such a grip
That they took me into the partnership
And that junior partnership I ween
Was the only ship that I ever had seen
Was the only ship that he ever had seen
But that kind of ship so suited me
That now I am the Ruler of the Queen’s Navy
But that kind of ship so suited he
That now he is the Ruler of the Queen’s Navy

I grew so rich that I was sent
By a pocket borough into Parliament
I always voted at my party’s call
And I never thought of thinking for myself at all
No, he never thought of thinking for himself at all
I thought so little, they rewarded me
By making me the Ruler of the Queen’s Navy
He thought so little, they rewarded he
By making him the Ruler of the Queen’s Navy

Now, landsmen all, whoever you may be
If you want to rise to the top of the tree
If your soul isn’t fettered to an office stool
Be careful to be guided by this golden rule
Be careful to be guided by this golden rule
Stick close to your desks and never go to sea
And you all may be Rulers of the Queen’s Navy
Stick close to your desks and never go to sea
And you all may be Rulers of the Queen’s Navy

The terrorists absolutely succeeded! They got their goat-humping butt buddy Obama in office didn’t they?

This commander was either not light enough in his loafers or he was an outspoken critic of his CinC. Running aground during a docking maneuver sounds like someone didn’t dredge the docking canals properly or the tide was out.

Just about every time that a ship in commission in the United States Navy runs aground, three things happen:

1. The Captain is relieved.

2. A discussion ensues on Free Republic wherein the savvy old salts explain that this is how things happen in the Navy: put your boat on the beach and you get beached permanently, period.

3. A group of ignorant posters jump in to attribute the relief to a purge, Obama’s hatred of the military, some evil conspiracy among Communists and Al Queda, or some variation on those themes.

I can only conclude that the ignorant ones remain so voluntarily, anyone who pays the least attention to such things on this forum understands how the Navy works thanks to the many Freepers who educate us daily. Thanks guys.

It’s just that way. Running a ship may or may not be the Captain’s fault but it is always his responsibility.
